Shouldn't exist. Tons of super noisy, annoying, little lawnmowers" taking off and landing at all hours of the day and night. And a mediocre safety record to boot. Pretty astounding that they are still allowed to operate. Should be terminated ASAP. That condo development can't come soon enough!"

What IS that noise?! Other than the noise pollution throughout the day and throughout the week, what I can't figure out is why there is almost always at least one low-flying plane buzzing overhead for hours on end in the middle of the night! It is 1:42 AM and this plane has been buzzing overhead for at least FIVE hours now! Driving me crazy!

Got my PPL here! An airport with long history. Great location for all the GA aviators around GTA. Please ignore the few comments left by angry liberal residents who came way later with no respect to the Canadian general aviation history.

It’s an amazing experience to have an convenient access to the general aviation just near the city. This airport has 70 years of history and makes tons of contributions to the Canadian general aviation industry. It’s sad and unbelievable to hear the news of shutting down this airport. If someone really cares about the safety, Pearson airport should be the one to be concerned about, cause it just lies beside the one of the most busiest highway, highway 401. Other than that, it’s also very dangerous if any large airplanes going “emergency landing” on any location since there are tons of fuel on board. We should ban airplanes in this case xD.

A dangerous place in city of Markham. The highway 404 next to it is one of the most busy highway in Canada and 2 planes just emergency landed" on highway in less than 2 yrs. Don't know when will the landing involve death next time!!"

The Buttonville airport (IATA YKZ/ ICAO CYKZ) has been in operation since 1953 originally as a grass strip runway. This was the home of Leggat Aviation. The airport grew with paved surfaces and larger numbers of General Aviation aircraft and Flight Training Units like Toronto Airways. This airport became one of the highest aircraft movement airports in Canada.Buttonville airport use to be in the middle of farrm land accessible by single lane roads. Now with urban sprawl the privately owed airport's hangar doors will close and the 170 acre property will be turned into residential / retail and commercial property.It is sad to think that the training centre for so many of Canada's aviators, possibly including your Air Canada's flight crew, will not be an optional training centre in the futureIf you like my reviews, photos or videos take off with the thumbs up Buttonville
