World Gym Dollard-des Ormeaux

If I could give a 0 star for customer service I would. I got diagnosed with cancer and have been receiving my chemotherapy treatments and for obvious reasons and doctors orders I am unable to attend the gym right now. I requested to freeze my account and provided them with a medical paper and they said that if they freeze the membership I still have to pay the monthly fees or I can cancel for $150 which I don’t want to do either because I wish to continue attending the gym post treatment. It’s been since January that I have been waiting for a call back from their “manager”. I have never had such an issue with any other gym, I really regret having signed up at Worlds. The last thing on my list to deal with while going through my sickness is to deal with unempathetic and ununderstanding customer service. It’s really time to consider re-evaluating your policy.

As a VIP member with the additional investment of a group trainer, I am extremely disgusted by the recent news of the termination of two coaches at World gym DDO.The unethical treatment of the coaches and dismissive behaviour of clients is unacceptable.The lack of professionalism from the management needs to be addressed and it is crucial that this gym begin to place value on the well being of the clients not just lining $ their pockets by assigning a multitude of clients per coach per hour!

Update June 8 2023:Shortly after my review a year ago I received a call from the new manager assuring me things were being addressed in regard to staffing and cleanliness. I admit for a few months things looked good around the gym at 5:15am - staff on the floor cleaning, picking up the random trash and racking weights where they belong. Sadly this was short lived. It’s now a year after my last review and the cleanliness of the gym is just disgusting and nothing is ever where it belongs. Free weights are strewn all over the gym leaving me to waste my time hunting for what I need, the floors are filthy, homeless people sleeping in chairs. A discarded sweat towel from a member left behind on the floor remained in the same exact spot for 3 days. Clearly there is no professional cleaning crew and the staff simply doesn’t care enough (or is not in their job description) to clean up.————-Update: I wrote this close to 6 weeks ago and the gym is still filthy and disgusting. Front desk staff told me even the manager just quit - haven’t been able to keep a manager more than a few months.————While I’m happy the gym is back open, I question if World Gym DDO was actually prepared to reopen. I would have thought/hoped that a competent cleaning crew would be top priority during these new times where sanitary measures have become the norm.This gym appears to not have been cleaned once since the reopening. There is paper littering the floors, old used discarded masks lying around, hair covering the woman’s change room floor. There is a serious lack of paper towels and sanitizing spray not to mention the actual locations of the spray stations are no where near the weight machines which are highly used. Additionally the free weights are a disaster! They are not in any type of order making it very difficult to find the weight you want (if it’s even on the rack because most of the time they are strewn in various locations around the gym causing gym-goers to waste time looking for them).The layout of this gym has also changed since the last lockdown. Nothing makes sense - machine plate racks are no where near the machines that need them!If I attended this gym in the evenings, I could maybe understand things being a bit messy - but I arrive daily at 5:12am.It makes me wonder who is governing health and safety measures or client satisfaction if this gym is such an unsanitary unorganized disaster.

Terrible gym. Managment puts all the weights in the private workout rooms so no one can use them. The regular room has no more dumbells. You can see in the picture the weights are all triple stacked. Do not recommend. 0/10

Went there for the free trial. It’s a pretty good gym, very well equipped and a nice place for bumper plate enthusiasts. Because of the pool, it tends to get pretty hot and humid. I’m also not a fan of the low ceiling and lack of natural lighting but that’s just me being picky. Staff are really chill, so that’s a plus.

Best gym I’ve ever been a member of. It has all the equipment you need and is affordable.Update: The only downsides for me is that it gets packed in the evening and honestly some of the staff could be friendlier or improve on their etiquette.

First impressions: service was good but not great. Not the greatest customer service but bareable. It's a busy gym and people don't pick up after themselves. Didn't see many people clean their machines, I felt like I was the only one. So kinda disappointed. The gym looks messy and disorganized but it's a big gym and spacious. I think they need to clean their vents because I fully saw dust particles falling from the ceiling. I really think they could do better for cleaning wise in general, such as passing brooms and mops more frequently. I see full clumps of hairs on the floor in the locker room.It has so much potential and it looks like a great gym with a great atmosphere. But cleanliness aspect is really lacking.

Had a great experience training with Coach Nick these past 4 months! Learned about proper exercise form and nutrition, he helped me reach my goals faster and gave me great motivation since the start. Also great gym to train at, lots of new equipment

Update:Unfortunately after being a member for 3 months my opinion changed. The only reason I still go is by aubligation (because I have a 1 year contract for training sessions) thankfully my trainer is great. But I avoid going outside of my training sessions.So far so good, it's very big. Great equipment. A little gym section only for women, very good prices. I had a first session with a trainer. I haven't even been a member for a week yet so don't have much to say as of yet but zero regrets so far, only motivation.

I came from Econofitness in January because of the pool, hot tub and sauna. This month I couldn’t use the sauna for 2 days and the hot tub is broken from the last weeks. This is not what I signed for. Besides, between April 17 to 21 the pool, sauna and hot tub will be close for maintenance. I am not an expert but maintenance for 5 days to clean a pool it seems a lot and this was not specified when I signed. Is my monthly subscription going to be less for all these days where I can’t use the services or I am going to pay for services I can’t use????
