First time being in this emergency dept and I would have given it a 5 start but the triage lady was very rude. Abby did my ecg and she is an absolute gem! The woman who did my blood work was super friendly, same with the one who did my nasal swab. The xray team were very efficient and the young male doctor who saw me was very human, down to earth and thorough. He made sure we checked everything. I wish I knew all of their names because they all deserve to be recognized. There is a pregnant nurse with blonde highlights who wasnt taking care of me but you can tell that she loves her job and goes above and beyond even while carrying a little one. I was there today Good Friday from 9:50am until about 1:30pm and had all the above completed. A lot of reviews talk about how slow they are but I couldn't believe how fast and efficient they are. Thank you team, I appreciate your dedication to helping us.For those complaining about wait times if we had to pay for Healthcare we'd get seen immediately because people wouldn't be going for every little thing. Would you prefer that? Think about it. Stop being so entitled. Your kid isn't more important then the child beside you or the elderly person in the wheelchair. Stop complaining! If you're nice to them they'll be nice to you, if you cop an additude then you deserve it right back! I was there today for 3 hours and 40 minutes and that includes letting an elderly gentleman take my spot so he could get his blood work done, and I also let a little girl get her x-rays done ahead of me even though I was waiting longer. Give peace a chance!

I had to take my baby to the hospital my son wouldn't stop crying,I was surprised because the emergency area was not busy so I thought will not take long mean time others keep coming and there going in before me while I'm watting with myb8 months baby that wouldn't stop crying. I was trying to calm my son and walking by the nurse station all I see staff on the cellphones. That just shows how much they care the career that they choose unreal I feel bad for us really

We (my wife and I) had a very poor and frustrating experinece in Lakeridge Hospital Oshawa. It was our first pregnancy and we did not get the guidance and support that we needed. It was one of the worst experience of my life and would not recommend child birth at Lakeridege Hospital Oshawa (LHO) to anyone (if they have an option). Our baby was due mid April, but when my wife was in 41 weeks, she was scheduled for induction on 4/22 at 10:30AM. We were late by 15min and the receptionist was very rude for that. Kept us waiting till 3:00PM. Finally, when it was our turn, it turned out that our baby was in breech position and the doctor told us that my wife will be needing c-section as soon as possible. So, the doctor did his part and put her in the waiting list (blue list) for an operation the very next day. The OB asked her to start fasting from mid-night 4/23 and told us that the hospital will call us at 9AM to confrim the time. We waited till 10:45AM and did not get any call. So, my husband followed-up and asked when we could expect the operation. They said there is limited staff, so we have to wait till 3:00PM and that my wife should keep fasting. I don't know how they can expect a pregant woman to fast for more than 15 hours. But still she did and we waited thinking this is just a one time thing. To our shock, at 3PM, shortly after we arrived at the hospital, they said that the operation cannot take place because they are still short staffed. I wonder, why couldn't they inform us about it before we came back to the hospital? My wife is pregnant and fasting for so long and they did not think it was important to inform us that they cannot perform the surgery. That too, they waited till I physicallly went to the hospital. I was really surprised at their negligence.LHO asked my wife to fast again from 12AM and come back on 4/24 at 9AM. To be sure, we called the hospital at 7:45AM and as we were suspecting, they told us to come back at 12PM. When we visited at 12 PM, they still did not have the OT team ready and kept us waiting till 3:40PM before my wife was taken to the Operation Theater. Why is there no transparency and communication from the hospital to patients? Why is the hospital staff never sure when an operation can be scheduled? Why are we punished for being 15min late while the hospital always keeps us waiting for hours?Even after birth, we had requested to be moved to private room thinking our extended health insurance covered it. But when we realized that our insurance did not cover for private rooms, we requested to be moved to general ward. The postpartum unit said that they did not have any ward available and so they will adjust and not charge us for the private room. However, we received a CAD600 bill after a 2 nights stay at the private room. When we tried to refute and explain what postpartum unit nurse and receptionist had assured us, the finance department said that there is no notes on file that proves what we were claiming. Yes, it was our mistake to not ask for a written confirmation inbetween all the information that was being dumped on us about the baby and how to take care of him. I really regret trusting the hospital and staffs and am really upset with them but I forgive them as doctors did bring my baby boy to this world safe and healthy.I am ranting about my experince hoping the administration team and executives notice these incidents and take actions so that no one else goes through these hassel during one of the most difficult phase of their life.

I am here right now with my sister.Apparently a person who has a damaged lung from chemotherapy and has lost two ribs is not considered a priority when they fall on that same side and are in pain and can't walk and have difficulty breathing. Its been 4 hours.

Extremely poor internet connection. Good luck for those who have to spend days in the hospital. TV doesn't work properly either. Sound system broken which causes you an ear damage. Parking is expensive. Hospital food is made for people who want to get or stay fat. Sad experience! It doesn't cost much to fix these issues by hospital management but are they going to do it, I doubt it. Only good thing is professional and friendly nurses who are way overworked and underpaid.

If you love your life, do not come here. Got placed into a dirty room no stretcher, brought this to the attention of the nurse who did not seem to care that IPAC was not being followed. There is more nurses sitting around than attending to patients that are here for care. Zero compassion in this place. This place should not even be recognize as a hospital. They do not live up to the meaning.

Very rude nurse claims to have called my name 4 times but somehow I didn’t lose my place in line. She never called my name and gave me attitude for asking a simple question and told me she’s “NOT ARGUING” with me. I approached her very calm and nice considering being here for 6+ hours. I asked multiple people who were sitting with me for over 4 hours and none of them heard my name. Highly do not recommend coming here.

Waited 4 hours and had to miss work and all I got was we don’t know what’s wrong with you go home. I came in with abdominal pain and while sitting there for the 4 hours it got worse, all they did was urine test, blood work and echocardiogram. No ultrasound or X-rays, how could they see what’s wrong with me if they didn’t do those.

Waiting periods over 4.5 hours. If the hospitals can't work efficiently why not just shut them down? Either the Doctors don't care anymore or there's a shortage. Either way. Shut hospitals down with waiting periods longer than an hour.
