OSP (On Site Placement)

The staff at OSP are very friendly and welling to help you no matter the problem. You can drop I'm at anytime to speak to a career coach about job search or help with resume. They have recently add a peer support person to help make new and previous clients feel more at ease talking out their disability so they don't feel alone in this journey ...i highly recommend stopping in and talking to them you never know

I was part of the Diversity program run by OSP and it was a great experience! The workshops were fun and very educational so I do recommend it anyone who is interested in participating! The people were very supportive and nice, I’m definitely glad to have met them!

The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and willing to help their clients in any way they can. Jennyvel is amazing at the workshops they offer. Its a great place to learn tips, job hunt and make new friends who are facing some of the same challenges you do when it comes to the workplace. Thanks so much for everything OSP !! you truly are making a difference in peoples lives

Unfortunately, I cannot recommend their so-called help. I’ve had several appointments so far. My first was with a very, in my opinion, arrogant individual named Gurwinder that seemed, to me, to see herself as an authority figure rather than someone that was part of a charitable organisation. I was completely disgusted with the defensive attitude she had when I inquired more about employers reaching out to OSP or even placement opportunities. (This was before someone let me know what this organisation actually does.) Instead of bringing this up to her, I simply requested to work with someone else as I’m not comfortable with conflict or confrontation. Things with Alice were great at first, but when it came to fixing my resume, she was quite condescending in her commentary about some of the items I decided to include. I thought it was the right thing to do by telling an employer up front about why there were employment gaps. It was my mistake to assume transparency was the best way to go. When she read the explanation for employment gaps that I decided to place in my resume she remarked on how it was unnecessary and that my resume “wasn’t a little biography about myself.” I was so enraged I nearly got up and left. How is scalding someone helpful? How is this constructive at all? I cannot wrap my mind around why she thought her nasty, condescending little jab belonged outside of high school. However, rather than confront her I held my anger in and the remainder of my meeting went on without another issue. Another problem I had with Alice is that I had emailed her twice to inquire about the workshops currently being conducted over Zoom.(These workshops are run like meal times in prisons, by the way. Your video MUST be on and your mic MUST be on. Never mind if you live in a studio apartment of less than 400 sq.ft. downtown that you don't want a group of people seeing and with ongoing construction. When I tried to explain this it really felt like I wasn’t believed and my boundaries got pushed. I think OSP needs to realise wanting to conduct these Zoom meetings in a certain fashion is a WANT. It is not a NECESSITY.)Back to Alice who claimed she had not received those emails. I have both of them in my ‘Sent’ email folder and neither were rejected/returned. So two emails I sent to the appropriate email address (the one she provided) never arrived or were overlooked? Huh. Okay then.I have never encountered a charitable organisation in which I’ve found myself hating entirely. The disgust I have for OSP is something only a person peeking behind a fry grill at a fast food joint should possess. The two members I interacted with lacked so much empathy and respect I left in shock on two separate occasions.In conclusion, I would ask that you seek help or services from a company that truly cares, leads with compassion, will empower you and genuinely has your best interest at heart. Don’t seek help from them or anyone for that matter that looks down their nose at you for either making a mistake or asking questions that apparently their sense of entitlement tells them is push-back.If you are an employee here or one of the individuals listed above you DO NOT under any circumstances have permission to contact me in ANY fashion. As far as I am concerned, you’re adults that knew what your role was. You should not need the people coming to you for your help addressing your repulsive behaviours.If you are reading this as someone potentially needing their assistance then please know you are not alone. They helped me find a job through workbridge program because I am new to Edmonton. I enjoyed the workshops they were educational. Jennifer really helped me prepare for the workforce. Nicole and everyone on the team were awesome!

Was extremely helpful, especially the fake interviews and learning how to write a good resume. Highly recommend.

I had an excellent experience completing the Diversity & Youth Skill Building program at OSP! I quite enjoyed the workshops, which were informative and well-run. Participating in this program will continue to be beneficial to my career/resume going forward.

Osp is a great place. The workshops teaches you lots of stuff and you get so much information out of it. When I first arrived I was working with the job specialist Jennyvel to help me find a job. She helped me apply to some places.  Jennyvel  helped me prepare for the jobs and the workshops helped me prepare as well. Jennyvel is a very nice person. As well as all the other people at osp are very nice as well. Jennyvel never gave up on me and she always tried her best to try and find me a job until the end. So one day Jennyvel helped me find a job at lowes. I am so happy that I now have a job. I think osp is the best place to go to if you have no job. Osp well help you get a job. All the people at osp work hard and never give up and are professionals at what they do. Like for me for example. They helped me get a job and many interviews from other places along the way too. Thanks Jennyvel for every thing. Thanks to everyone one at osp for your help and helping me get a job. You are all fantastic people

I volunteered in the Diversity Awareness and Skill-building Youth Program at OSP. The program included 30 hours of workshops on diversity and inclusion, 30 hours of general volunteering and 60 hours to build one's own project. It was such a valuable experience! The staff members here, especially my mentors, Kathy and Karen, were very inspiring and kind-hearted. They kept me on track and gave me a lot of advice to navigate through my own project. I also oved the way the courses were designed and organized. They incited me to learn and to challenge my previous pre-assumptions. Other staff, such as Jennyvel, who monitored volunteers' s progress, did an amazing job, too! Overall, I highly recommend OSP and I truly hope that this program shall continue to inspire youth in a very long time!
