Just finished an excellent lunch of sausage roll, cinnamon bun and coffee, and I have to say this was one of the most delicious meals I've had. Although the property seems to present itself as a hostel, the diamond that shines through is the excellent food offered. Prices are very good considering the quality. Lots of parking and tons of inside and outside seating. Given the limited places to dine in Denman, this is a gem.

Lovely little place to have a snack and buy some neat things if you're on Denman island

My wife and I used the ECF for a night on our vacation and found it to be pleasant and affordable. The facility is very straightforward hostel/communal living style accomodations, the other clients are quiet and responsible, and the island community is a pleasure.We would book rooms here again.

I spend there one week with my tent and had a wonderful time there. Donna and Sheldon are both very nice and helpful. The bistro has very tasty food and also self baked strudels and muffins.Denman Island has some beautiful hiking trails and is definitely worth a visit. I would stay there again.

Booked ahead of time and showed up, but no staff could be found to help. Two other groups were also waiting on the porch to figure out accommodations. After waiting around, calling, and emailing with no answer we had to make the hard decision to catch the last ferry off the island or sleep in our car. Sadly we abandoned all hopes and had to leave. Afterwards we received an email saying the keys were already in a random room. I guess it’s up to the guests to figure out their own sleeping arrangements.If you’re the type of free spirited person who can show up with no directions and randomly pick deserted rooms to claim as your own then this is the place for you. If you are like me and need someone to at least confirm a reservation at least once in the two weeks it was booked and tell you which room you’re staying in then you maybe disappointed. So just show up and claim rooms I guess is how this works. Seemed cool. Just no staff to run it.

Great little place for a nice snack or meal. Super relaxed ambience with quite a free options for sitting in or out. Little rooms and nooks. Great servers and people who love what they are doing.Really enjoyed the spot as a first-time visitor to Denman Island and great to know that there is somewhere open on Sunday.Lunch for me was the veggie hash and it was incredibly fresh with vegetables that are actually cooked just right with all their color and flavor intact (thank you!). Came with a nice helping of diced fried potatoes mixed in.I also had the standard decaf and it was pretty average drip, don't recommend. But they do have a wide assortment of coffees, teas and beverages to choose from. Saw a wonderfully pink smoothie going by in a mason jar and lots of happy people at the next table.Amazing brownies and if you get there and they have pie, don't hesitate, just buy it!

This was a great place to stay. I camped outside for $20. The building itself had a great setup. A kitchen was available, bathrooms, lounge areas. I had live jazz there the night I stayed. The people working there are so nice and accommodating to all random needs. Great place to stop if your stranded on the island. Worth every penny.

Ah yes, the classical guest house that we on Denman Island know all too well and love. The accommodations are plentiful, with everything you need offered or available to you during your stay. The food here is absolutely wonderful, there is no way to describe how well made and tasty it all is without trying for yourself. Also accompanying you during your stay, the staff here are more than able and willing to provide you with any restaurant, room rental and entertainment service you may need along with providing a very comfortable and hospitable atmosphere that makes you feel more at home.My rating is a 5/5, I recommend this place to anyone who is temporarily staying on Denman and may need a place to stay or just buy food and hang out.

Service was terrible, food disgusting. Three out of four of us could not finish our lunch as a result of the terrible food. Such a shame this is the only restaurant on the island. I will definitely pack a lunch the next time I visit Denman Island.
