Emergency Department @ Cobequid Community Health Centre

I never go to a doctor unless I absolutely have to. I was having chest pains and other symptoms of heart problems, which have been ongoing for a couple of months. After trying to get in to 3 walk ins but they were all full, I finally went to this Emerg. My family doctor takes 3 months to get in. Here after registering, I watched up to 8 other people( whom all had no obvious serious emergency as some were going in smiling) who arrived after me go in before me as I sat and waited for 5 hrs. 4 yrs prior I went here for unknown cause of redness and swelling in my left leg. I was given a blood test to detect blood clots which even the doctor said often shows as negative as it is known to be inaccurate. So why was I given it? Well it was negative and they did no other tests when I knew there was something wrong with my leg. I was released. The same day I got in go Soma Vein and the doctor there immediately recognized that my entire Great Saphenous vein was swollen and inflamed from my ankle to near hip and I needed blood thinners immediately. Needless to say, I will go elsewhere before going back to Cobequid Emerg.

My go-to for emergency visits. I recently broke my ankle and the staff was amazing when I was in shock. Extremely caring and compassionate. The nurse who checked me in was able absolute saint.I’d been here previously in February as well when a pinched nerve in my neck - they were just as amazing then too.The wait times each time have been far better than other ERs in HRM. Highly recommend getting out to this one if you can instead of the QEII.

Went to emerg with trouble breathing. Although over capacity, I was still seen and diagnosed quickly. The doctor I had was very friendly and efficient. He left me feeling confident in the treatment plan given to me.

I went in the other day due to extreme pain, waited in the waiting room for 6 hours and then in the hospital room for 2 hours before the doctor finally saw me. He ignored everything I was saying and our conversation was maybe 5 seconds long where he proceeded to tell me to take a Tylenol and then go on my way. A few days later I am still in pain and will have to go back to try and get some type of medication or antibiotics for my issue because I was completely disregarded a few says ago. I would give zero stars if I could.

I had to take my 8.5 yr old into the ER today for a possible concussion. The entire staff was so nice, cheery and went above and beyond to be helpful. I have never had such a great experience at a hospital. They made my daughter feel so special. From the time we entered to the time we left it only took 1.5 hours in total. Thanks so much and amazing job!

Went in at 7am with increasing pain just below my left breast & shortness of breath. Was very anxious going in as I have no previous health issues, however they triaged me fast and Dr. Kennedy did bw and rads right away to ensure if anything serious was going on. By 11:10am was already out the door with a diagnosis and medication as they discovered it was a blood clot in the left lung. Both the doctor and my nurse were very friendly and efficient !

I cannot say enough good things about the nursing staff at this hospital, they are absolutely incredible, top of their game, compassionate people.The doctors on the other hand are self righteous, lack compassion, empathy, bedside manner, skill, and professionalism.

Wonderful doctors,wonderful nurses,wonderful humans working here. So very thorough. Grateful. Thankyou.

I've gone sixteen times in two months for extreme, extreme pain, and have been told to walk it off, change my diet a little bit, and even been given laxatives.They have neglected to do bloodwork, x-rays, ultrasounds, or anything else. I can't go anywhere else for help, and by no means do I have a family doctor anymore. I am lost, and this Healthcare system, and the hospitals herein, have left me behind.

To the nurse in charge Friday June 30 th who felt my daughter wasn’t priority to be seen , “ she’s fine”. Maybe you won’t be so quick to judge a book by it’s cover, after she was determined to have suffered a mini stroke! Just because she’s only 41! Shame on you. Kudos to Dr though for nit brushing her off.
