It is hard to find a better sushi place in Calgary than Midori. You can really tell there is passion and care from everyone involved for their craft; they are a must try for anyone who lives in or is visiting Calgary. As the name suggests they are a quaint Japanese-styled sushi restaurant that works hard to present items in an elegant fashion. Their selection is truly diverse and refined, and of the many times I’ve been there, all of their menu items have never disappointed. The sushi was all outstandingly fresh and delicious. Their in-house special salad was crisp, clean, and refreshing, and quickly became one of my favorite food items. It is also made completely gluten free. This is one of those restaurants that, anytime I visit, I am always left satisfied!

Sushi was phenomenal! Nice little cozy place that's good for a nice size lunch. Will definitely be back again! Great portions and good prices. Will be back to try some other items on the menu!

Great little sushi restaurant. It has a very relaxed and cozy atmosphere, good place for a quiet date or just eat with the family. It has some of the best sushi rolls in Calgary; the fish is so fresh and soft and does taste too fishy and the rice is perfect. I want to come back and try all there rolls.

The sushi is very fresh. Excellent wasabi- hot but not too much. Benches outside to eat. Good at following up to check on us.

Is this a joke? I asked for no volcano sauce and they put volcano sauce all over it and put SO many tempura crumbs on it thinking I won’t notice. Disgusting. If you make a mistake just fix it. Also look how small that piece of rice is under the Tuna, it was dry and crunchy too. This place used to be my favourite :(

Sushi isn't fantastic, but it's not terrible either. It is honestly very average. I was expecting better, as it was not as good as what I've had in Lloydminster at Sushi Sora. Their smoked salmon was very good though. The salmon rolls left something to be desired. I didn't enjoy the firecracker roll. Maybe I just needed to order something else.

5 Friggen stars! This is my favourite place. Great atmosphere, feels just like Japan. Best rolls in town and the sashimi is beautifully presented.

The food has gone downhill lately too if you order on the weekend during the week it is OK : the cabbage in the noodle dish they use all the tough end pieces & they are so hard because they don’t cook it long enough. Some of the carrot shreds are hard as well in the yakisoba. You can’t even chew it you have to pick it out of the dish which I do because I like the noodles, meat and sauce and I’m usually loyal to businesses I go to, but it’s time to find a new place!I order food there by phone a lot! I spend a lot! I called to order food on a Tuesday 8:17 pm they are open til 9 PM & they are telling me they have no food left at all and I could hear a lot of people eating in the background because it’s a small place and you can hear that on the phone. Then she said they had no rice and I said well I order noodles never rice. Then she made another excuse that they were busy, well my job is busy too. (They knew who I was on the phone they can see my number)Does a restaurant not know how much food they sell after being in business for that long ? If you’re going to run a small business where you have a lot of other competition you need to have a good customer service or you have nothing!!The prices were raised higher than the same dishes at other nicer Japanese restaurants. It seems to be good on certain days, maybe the cook changes on the other days? And the inside of your restaurant is not the cleanest! That is why we get takeout. But try it and see what you think. Update: now the hours were changed yet again. Lol

I have been going to this spot for years even after I moved away from downtown. It has gotten less clean over the years because they haven’t updated anything and they are in an area known to have bed bugs. The food can be very good or it can be bad depending on when you get it and who makes it.. but my biggest complaint is going there on a weekday when their hours are stated, and slamming the door in my face when I got there with no explanation at all 35 minutes before closing time. That is just plain rude! And now I read that the owner is Korean not even Japanese in the reviews that explains the inconsistency in the food. Not sure if I will return because there are a lot of reports of bed bugs in this area which is why I moved years ago. Just be careful if you shop for anything downtown. Maybe eat outside or take out. Check the bags though. It’s something no one talks about, but it’s definitely downtown.

The lunch special was very good price and portion! Came with a choice of tempura, chicken teriyaki, beef teriyaki, or tofu teriyaki. Also came with miso soup or a choice of pop.Very nice staff and fast service. The rice was very nicely seasoned" it actually tastes like sushi rice. Miso soup was very good and the tempura had a good volume to it. I would want to try the Korean menu options as well.I would go again!"
