Since I have an onion intolerance, I placed my order requesting “No Onions.” The gentleman that took the order, presumably the owner, said okay. Once I arrived back at the house (pick up orders only,) several of the dishes had onions in them. I called to request some replacement food without onions. The owner spoke with the cook and they both insisted that there were no onions in the dishes. Myself and the rest of the family could clearly see onions in the dishes. I headed back to the restaurant and showed him the dishes with the onions. He could see what I was talking about, and tried to explain to me that those are “green onions,” and that they are not “onions.” You can’t even imagine the conversation I had trying to figure out how green onions are not actually onions… he said it’s like apples, that there are Gala, Fuji, etc… well, if I had an apple intolerance I bet my stomach would not know the difference between a Gala apple and a Fuji apple, after all, they are both apples. This guy couldn’t understand that green onions are actually onions, and that ingesting them is not going to be a fun situation for me. He told me he’s been putting green onions in the dishes for 36 years. This place used to be awesome before the ownership changed. My entire extended family used to love this place and would eat there every time we visited town. Even for them, the food this trip was not up to par to what they used to be, there did not seem to be a lot of flavor to any of the dishes. We will not be getting food from here anymore.I usually just brush off when restaurants make a mistake and forget about not adding onions, but when you insist that there are not onions when there are, and you argue that green onions are not onions, then you earn yourself a 1 star review.

Not to be mean: this restaurant used to be our favourite chinese place to eat. The plates were full. The food was not greasy. The sweet and sour pork did not taste or feel like it was leftover pork roast redone into fried pork. There were a few pieces of onions, green peppers and pineapple pieces as a third dish. It made for a nice rasty dish. The menu has changed. We ordered the same things as in the past. My order had a pile of pasty noodles that tasted like they had been cooked the day before. I did not like them! My sweet and sour pork tasted as leftover pork. My husband's fried rice he said was greasy and he did not like it.I am a very slow eater so my husband patiently sits and waits a long time until I am done. He was never offered a 2nd cup of coffee by our waitress, who by the way was not so busy. He attitude that day was: I don't like serving you. I do it because I have too. She lacked in friendliness

Food was pretty not bad, restaurant could use some updating, when they charge 160 for an order like the one we had. That's outrageous. Probably one of the more expensive Chinese restaurants I've ever ate at. Save ya coin and eat something regular. Ya want Chinese go to a bigger city.

Hands down the worst Chinese food I've ever had. What happened to this place? The chicken noodle soup was slimy, disgusting and bland, the chow mein was dry and extremely bland. It was just a pile of gross, cold, over cooked noodles with no onion, cabbage, carrots or bean sprouts. The spring rolls were small, expensive and insanely greasy. The sweet and sour pork was soggy, overcooked and undersauced with massive chunks of raw onion in it. The beef and broccoli had a nasty sauce, and the beef was dry (not even my cat would eat it). All the portions were pretty small considering we got two combos for one with 2 spring rolls added which totalled $52.00. I feel extremely ripped off so please do not waste your money here.

I am confused by these reviews. They do not reflect my experience tonight. The place is clean and the staff friendly. We arrived 30 minutes before closing... but were seated and tended to quickly. Based on the reviews, I can't think of a reasonable excuse for what we were served tonight. Even if it was the lateness in the day they should not have served it.... the chow mein was not the worst I have had ... just bland, unseasoned, limp ....devoid of anything with crunch... just chicken and noodles. The batter on the prawns and the sweet and sour pork was thick, heavy and overcooked. Not the meal that reflected such praise like the best Chinese food in town. Makes me shudder at the thought of eating at any of the others in town. We should have said something ... but we didn't hopefully someone was just off their game tonight and what we had was not indicative of what they usually serve.

Overall Not too bad. Chow mien is actually pretty decent. The rest are average.

Its amazing how a great chinese restaurant can go downhill through the years after covid , ordered a combo plate , eggroll and wonton soup. Eggroll was a gob of grease , sweet n sour pork (yuk) , been on the stove way too long, vegetables no flavor without soy sauce , and chowmien ? Just noodles thats it!!. I would have preferred cup o noodles same thing. A real shame , shouldnt even be in business. If thats the best in Burnslake , they are in trouble! Haven't eaten there in twenty yrs and i will not come back!
