Gwaii Naay Island House

Mt group stayed here 10 days and Elsie made us feel at home right away! Everything was clear and communicated well when we arrived, we had everything we needed from laundry access to a full kitchen. Elsie made sure to check in on us occasionally to see if we needed anything and was eager to share her wisdom, culture and stories about the island. Thank you for sharing your home with us!

I had the pleasure of staying here on the May Long Weekend 2019. Elsie immediately made us feel at home, and comfortable! She is so welcoming and goes above and beyond for her guests. The entire place has been updated and has a fully functional kitchen for your own meal prepping. The rooms are nicely decorated, quiet and the beds are very comfortable.Elsie is a joy to talk to and hope I get the chance to stay again soon!

I wish I could give this place 10 stars !!! Our stay at Elsie's place was something we will cherish forever. From the first moment we set foot into Elsie's hotel we felt that we were home - we were welcomed with open arms and an open heart. All the rooms are beautiful, with details that show that Elsie really wants her guests to enjoy themselves thoroughly. The beds in the rooms are incredibly comfortable and so is the bedding. It is so quiet in the evenings that we had the best sleep. Do keep your windows open a little though, if you want to enjoy the sounds of eagles and ravens in the morning or the rain during the night. There is a very well equipped kitchen with everything you need (and coffee!) and dining room that we really enjoyed using for cooking meals and hanging out. Washrooms aren't normally something I would comment on but these were exquisite - everything so pretty, new and luxurious. The location was perfect - right in the centre of Massett - across from the grocery store, great coffee shop, bars and the farmer's market on Fridays (11-2). The beach and the ocean was a short drive away as were a millions amazing trails and lakes . Coming back to the best part about our stay - meeting Elsie ! I am so grateful thay we had the pleasure and great fortune of meeting her and spending some time together. We really hope to be back ! Lots of love, Anna and Nick read less

What a lovely surprise this little gem is! I didn't know what to expect but enjoyed my ensuite room immensely. Elsie and the lovely lady who checked me in showed me nothing but kindness and made an out of towner feel at home. I recommend you take a visit to Masset and see Elsie. You will enjoy your stay as much as I did.

I had a lovely stay here, it was quiet, very clean and the bed was super comfy. I had a soaker tub which was lovely after long days on the water. Elsie is very kind and responsive whenever I had a question. Highly recommend and will be staying here next time :)

Elsie rented us the upstairs suite, until she convinced my child 2 rooms would be better, because she wanted to stay up there. Her 'back up' manager left a couple days before she was to leave so I told her I would help out. Problems started right away, which she expected me to take care of. The sewer backed up and she ignored me a few days then accused me of not wanting to help out, threatening to have someone else take over.Elsie got her son to intimidate me, and make as much noise as possible, she doesn't even care about the business but making the most money with minimal effort. I also have not been paid for taking over, but she made sure to ask me for rent. Classy!

We stayed in Elsie’s place for a week. It was very comfortable and Elsie was always there to answer questions and make sure her guest were well taken care of. She has a wealth of knowledge of the Haida, and all of the local sites and activities that Haida Gwaii has to offer.

visiting in the off season its difficult to know what you will get but this little place is so peaceful its really what i needed the room was very comfortable and would also be a great spot to go as a group of friends or family it was clean and had access to a full kitchen . i was lucky to meet the owner who is an incredible friendly person i will definitely be returning thank you Elsie for a home away from home and making me feel so welcome

Friendly knowledgeable hostness. Well stocked kitchen. We really enjoyed meeting and visiting with other travellers. The beds are very comfortable. Great shower. Highly recommend staying here.

The rooms are absolutely beautiful and you could not feel more at home Elsie is awesome at making you feel right at home. Rob and I do this trip once a year and our favorite place to land is always in Elsie's place. Love it love it love it you're awesome girl
