The food here is really delicious! I have been here many times since the new owners and my taste buds and I are always happy when departing. I've had halibut, haddock and the souvlaki dinner - they are ALL YUMM!! The chips are always on point. Service is golden here. Decor and atmosphere" is meh but really

Stopped at this location with the wife and kids for dinner on our way home through newcastle. We were greeted by friendly staff, place was super clean. We ordered 2 halibut dinners, burger combo and chicken finger combo. Everything came out fresh, perfectly cooked and the portions were generous.The owner recommended we try the coconut pie which just topped off a perfect dinner. We'll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this location!

We used to eat here once a week. Our kids loved it, food was great. I'm assuming there was a management change, as the quality plummeted. The fish is so sad looking, soggy and barely enough to call a piece of fish. It's really sad that this restaurant built a great reputation in Newcastle, and has been destroyed so quickly.

Absolutely loved my stay here at Capt George's. The restaurant was clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive. They took their time to explain the specials and any questions i had with the menu. I ordered the Halibut and it was one of the best that I've ever had. Soft tender and crispy golden on the outside. The fries were crispy as well! Being from Oshawa it's well worth the short drive over for some quality English style fish and chips. Id recommend the cocounut cream pie as a dessert even if youre not a fan of coconut. Its the best ive had yet. Soft flaky and baked perfectly.I noticed a lot of other patrons had Greek style dishes which looked really good as well. I will try them next as this also seems very popular. I can always appreciate an extensive menu with good options!The prices are fair, the food tastes great and the portion sizes are very filling. What more can anyone want? My go to spot for fish and chips from now on. 5 stars easy.

Very nice staff, very welcoming! Food is tasty just as before. The owner dropped their prices to help people afford their delicious menu, something other restaurants not willing to do and I applaud the new owner for that.I would recommend this place to anyone compare to other Captain George.

I visited the restaurant a couple of times, for a sit down meal, I wouldn't say the service was great, but the food was good. I have had two pick up orders more recently, that have been horrendous. This last one was the final straw. The meat was dry. It was burned. The order was wrong and I had to wait over half an hour longer than originally told, there was one person in the restaurant and no takeout orders ahead of me. When I called the restaurant to complain, the lady argued with me, she told me that it was charbroiled, I'm well aware of the differences between Char-Broil and burnt. The french fries were cold and soggy because they sat there for 25 minutes while the salads were made. I asked for one order with no french fries and extra salad, ended up with extra french fries. The meat was cooked too long and as I said was burned. Will not be going back! $42 for two orders that weren't even edible
