I joined this program with my 5 year-old one term ago and while I think they provide a great first intro to skating beyond learning the basics of holding yourself up on ice and moving around and don’t think it is suitable for a young boy. My son has not made any improvements in the past term and has now started to hate attending classes because he is either ignored by instructors (some of whom are very young) or moved from station to station with minimal instruction (basically just told to follow the other kids against a series of drawings on the ice). The 1 star rating is for the unaccommodating approach taken by the instructional staff who upon hearing my concerns shrugged and said said its how canskate operates. When I asked how I can get a refund (1.5 months into 6 month program) because of my dissatisfaction with their services their reply was you can write a letter but the board won’t approve it. What was particularly not appreciated was the dismissive tones taken and statements such as it’s your opinion he has not improved. During my conversation With the head coach I was interrupted by another instructor and it became a combative conversation in front of multiple staff making me feel threatened and very uncomfortable. Do yourselves a favor and sign your kids up for a hockey league - better coaching, focused instructional learning, and more affordable (2x lessons a week with the same coaches for less than one lesson spread across ever changing instructors).
