Fantastic experience! We took a 3-4 hour afternoon trip with Gordie and the experience surpassed our expectations in every way. If you're in the Sooke area, don't miss this opportunity to get out on the water!

We are from the UK, visiting Vancouver Island, and booked a 4 hour sailing trip with Gord. We had a brilliant time. Gord is a very patient and knowledgable instructor as well as being great company with a good sense of humour.Even though we were novices Gord encouraged us to get involved with the sailing, letting us take the helm and put up/take down sails etc.Got to see some lovely scenery along with thoroughly enjoying the sailing. Would highly recommend the trip.

I recently took a 5 day sailing class with 5 other individuals through the Gulf Islands, BC, with instructor and skipper Gordie Fulcher, of Starlight Sailing Adventures. I had no prior knowledge or experience sailing. I highly recommend this class and Gordie to all. He is a very knowledgeable, calm and cool instructor. By the end of our class he had us all sailing a 45 ft boat. It must also be said we all had an absolute blast. Already planning to be in Gordie’s company again next year. It was truly an amazing experience and it was all because Gordie Fulcher was an outstanding instructor and person to learn from. I highly recommend this experience to all.

I learned so much on the five day cruise on Starlight with Gord including seamanship, points of sail, tacking and gybing, rising, reefing and lowering sails, knots, docking, anchoring, reading tide and current charts, safety and emergency preparedness and how to steer a sailboat in light and strong winds. We saw lots of humpback whales and the spectacular scenery of the Strait of Juan de Fuca. I recommend bringing a few wool sweaters, wool pants and pairs of wool socks to wear under your waterproof rain gear along with a toque, gloves and waterproof shoes or boots. It gets very cold out there. I recommend doing the five day live aboard experience for anyone who wants to see what sailing is all about.

Starlight Sailing is a fun filled Adventure, Gord is a great teacher and very nice person. The last time we went sailing, we saw Humpback whales, Porpoises, Sea lions, and many different types of birds. Always a great time filled with learning. I can't wait to go sailing again.

Best sailing experience one could imagine...I always love coming back and sailing out with Gordie! He teaches with incredible patience and it's always a lot of fun. I can't wait to go for a long ocean trip someday! Thanks Gordie - you're the best!

So many great things to say about our 5 days live aboard basic sailing class with Gord! Before going on Starlight, I had little to no experience on a boat and my first language is French so I wasn’t sure how this would turn out, but I decided to jump in anyways! Gord understands French and is very good at communicating so it helped me a lot! He is a great teacher and very fun to be around. His confidence and knowledge made me feel secure all along and you can tell he is passionate! He will gladly answer to all of your questions and is willing to show you more! We even had a crab meal that he caught with his crab trap :) The landscapes were amazing and the wildlife we saw was incredible, memories that will last a life time! Thank you Gord you are truly the best xxx

Starlight Sailing Adventures great school for the whole family. We took our grandson for his first Sailing adventure and Gord took time to get him comfortable and had him docking the craft within hours. Gord gave all 4 of us on board ample time to learn review and learn again. We enjoyed his fun personality full of stories and all the while making sure we understood the importance of ship safety. I'm very pleased with Gord's teaching skills and the ability and time he gave us to be confident while writing our exams. WE PASSED.See you next year for our Intermediate course. My husband and I did a 5 day cruise and learn with Gordie a couple of weeks ago. We had an incredible experience! Not only is Gordie super patient, kind, and funny, he also took us on an adventure sailing around to various spectacularly beautiful, remote, and quiet anchorages. Gordie took every precaution necessary to ensure we felt safe during Co-Vid. The beds were comfy, we had a ton of delicious food, and everything we needed to be comfy for the trip. We felt super comfortable on his boat and Gordie's calm nature is a pleasure to be around. I went into the experience a little nervous as there was quite a bit of sailing terminology to remember in order to get our day skippers license (and to pass the test at the end) but he made learning fun and we had a lot of opportunity to practice our skills throughout the 5 day adventure. We lucked out with the most incredible weather and honestly it was one of the most beautiful travelling experiences I've had to date. If you are thinking you would like to learn to sail or if you just want to go out an explore this beautiful area, I highly recommend spending some time on Starlight Sailing Adventures. Gordie is a gem!
