Don Mills Civitan Arena
Good arena to take your kids learning to skate. The north end of the rink is marked off for beginners. Skating aids are available here during public skate, albeit limited in number. The arena is busy during public skate, but ample parking still available. The arena is connected to the Shops at Don Mills in case other members of your family/group don't want to skate (There is an outdoor rink available at S@DM too--open during its hours of operation).

It's free so that's a plus. The only plus. I skate on 3 other rinks on a regular basis. Two indoor and one outdoor. Magna Center, and Ray Twinney Center are the indoor rinks. Newmarket, Ont. NHL Calibre. The ourdoor rink is Tom Hortons Ice Pad" (and water feature in summer).The "Don Mills Civitan Arena" is the worst by far. It's a mine field of pits and divots. The outdoor Tim Hortons rink up here in Newmarket is far smoother the morning after a night of beer hockey parties. I get a kick out of cleaning up a few beer cans

An arena as old as time and as familiar as childhood itself. Took in the Sunday public skate session and found it well equipped with skate trainers for kids and adults alike. The friendly staff marked out the north end of the rink (from blue line on in) for beginner skaters. For anyone looking for an indoor rink that's literally by the Shops on Don Mills, be sure to checkout Civitan!

It is a decent place for a skate but wish they gave a longer period for public skate. It didn't appear that anything was reserved for Sunday after the public skate as it was quite empty after getting the little ones ready to go home. Could we get another hour or two afterwards?

This is a great place to be. I went there to learn ice skating and it's nice for beginners. Since I am new to ice skating, I cannot really comment on the other aspects but it's a nice rink to be at.

The parents that are a part of this arena are disgraceful they are bullies and incredibly rude, I am glad we don't have to go back

they finally replaced the lights in this place, badly due to be torn down or renovated, this community has been waiting for a new rink for years now, ice is pretty good as it's been for years. Someone needs to get this done, as this old barn has been showing it's age for years.
