Packed up place with hotshot dance floor with I believe the best pitcher that I've had in a long time. The DJ and the music just makes you dive in. Don't miss Phil's if you're here in Waterloo!

Good music, especially on Sundays. Pitcher's are relatively cheap. The beer is not that good and this club is empty on Wednesdays and Thursdays

I've decided to permanently avoid Phil's bar. It's appalling that a bar would involve the police with their own customers. The bartender collaborated with security to trail me to my car at a time when I was most vulnerable. Despite my clear intention not to drive, as proven in court, I had to endure costly legal fees and the risk of deportation. If you're looking for a good time, I strongly advise against visiting this place. I'm deeply disappointed in the entire staff. It would have been far more appropriate and compassionate for them to check on me instead of jumping to conclusions and potentially ruining someone's life.

Always a good time, they do kick people out for being slightly intoxicated but honestly their just trying to keep the place safe, hats off to the staff there

Best to drink a head, cause on a busy night it's a fight to get to the bar and when you do always order at least 3 drinks so you don't have to fight your way back lol.But if your good time is dancing in a small space shoulder to shoulder with wet people its amazing lol but seriously some of the best fimrs of my life were their

It’s a good place to go with friends, cheap drinks, but go before 9:30 if you don’t want to wait in line on Saturday or Sunday. It’s not the nicest but it’s a solid basement bar, a staple in anyones Waterloo experience.

The bouncer was ego tripping. Refused to believe that my two friends were twins. They had legit id’s with different names but because they looked the same he said that the same name popped up. Refused to scan the id’s again when we told him that he might be wrong. Just told us to leave. It’s 2023, we really shouldn’t have to deal with this kind of discrimination and rudeness. No inclination to take it seriously by the whole management. Honestly didn’t even want to go in towards the end just wanted to show that this kind of discrimination towards brown people is unacceptable. Do better.

Phil’s has cheap drinks, I’ll give it that.Crowd is all below 25, so don’t bother going if you’re older. There is a dance floor and the music tends to be decent, but the whole place has a dingy basement vibe with treacherous slippery floors. Extremely rude bartenders. And most significantly, the security staff are beyond unprofessional. I went to this place 2 times without being harassed by them, although I did watch four bouncers literally carry a guy out by his arms and legs and chuck him onto the asphalt outside. Yikes.On the 3rd time I visited (for a friend’s birthday), I was kicked out after only two drinks. I guess because I was dancing too enthusiastically, and a bouncer came up to me and said I had to leave. He got angry at me when I went to go get my coat from coat check, and when I explained that I didnt want to go home without my coat he was incredibly rude and aggressive and I was actually worried I would be assaulted.Still not sure why they kick people out at random, but the only explanation I can think of was they were at capacity and just wanted to keep the cover charges rolling in. I later learned of other friends that had this happen to them. Totally sketchy and horrible. Makes you feel completely unvalued.
