Magnificent heritage building. One of the finest Opera Houses in See for yourself by attending one of the year-round events scheduled in that building. Live theater, concert, symposiums, etc.

85 years ago, John Holden brought the first professional summer theatre company to Gravenhurst, truly making the Gravenhurst Opera House the birthplace of Canadian summer theatre. With actors such as Kate Reid, Ted Follows, Charmion King, Barbara Hamilton, Araby Lockhart and Donald Sutherland, the Opera House was a launching pad for many notable Canadians. Open year round, the Gravenhurst Opera House is located right in the heart of downtown and very proud that this long standing tradition continues, with over 100 performances of professional theatre, great concerts, stand-up comedy and more all summer long!It is birthplace of summer theatre in Canada.

I don't even want to tell you how great a venue this is. It is a very small and well kept venue that I am afraid I will have trouble getting tickets for future events if you start attending.I agree with other reviews who say there is not a bad seat in the house (acoustically speaking) but if you get seats far left you may not see all the stage for the tower of speakers. They may only be there for some performances and would not stop me from buying those seats... just something to be mindful of.The performances I have attended were top notch and the ushers are a delight.
