The Little Cheese Shop

The Little Cheese Shop has more selection than you are likely to find in most grocery stores and health-food stores, and the girls (at least one of whom hails from continental Europe) give the best service -- and advice, and tasting -- you can imagine. I myself only go for the grass-fed, non-pasteurized organic cheeses, and they have at least two or three varieties at one time, sometimes more. The French Gruyere is one of the best cheeses I have ever had. The shop always prepares a very healthy and tasty salad (usually bean salad with lots of vegetables). I have yet to try their grilled-cheese sandwiches, but where else can you get grilled-cheese sandwiches made with the finest connoisseur cheeses and a European finesse? You can sit in the shop and eat your purchases if you are hungry. I would highly recommend this shop even to visitors to Victoria, let alone residents.

Stopped in for a quick shared lunch and she was very accommodating about splitting up the meal. It still seemed like a full plate and was delicious.The cheese samples for the day were so tasty, I had to buy some. My husband loved them. We are definitely going back.

The price point is a bit high compared to other cheese shops we have been to. The selection is not large but they have good cheese. The shop lives up to its name: it is little. The staff are friendly enough, but they dont give samples out generously. You have to buy the pre-defined blocks of cheese instead of customizing the amount you want, as with other cheese shops we are used to.
