Ruffin's Pet Centres - Brantford

The best set of staff I’ve ever had the pleasure of encountering at a Ruffins store in all my experiences. All of the staff here are incredibly kind, empathetic and caring towards not only the animals involved but the people they encounter as well. The staff that do the small animal and bird nail trimming handled our newly adopted and finicky Conure parrot so well and did a beautiful job rectifying his curled nails. They have always been super informative and helpful finding all the resources in the area we’ve asked for advice/experience from after recently moving to the area and not knowing about the local groomers and veterinary offices as well as any pet/product advice we’ve asked about. They’ve helped so much and have been so empathetic in our journey of battling with our dogs kidney disease and even put some items on the house when I went in noticeably distressed to get some of her favourite foods and treats as she’s on her last legs and very unwell. Very thankful to have this store and it’s staff and will always recommend this specific Ruffins if you need a new pet store to go to or for many small animal nail trimming needs!

Went to buy an aquarium with our 2.5 year old son. The staff were AMAZING. Got us set up with a really nice tank! We just went and picked out 3 fish and had a great experience. Big shout out to the woman working in the fish section today.Thanks again!!

Very clean and friendly. Fish looked healthy and betta cups looked clean. Pet friendly took my dog there and staff was helpful and nice, pretty good selection of stuff aswell.

We don’t know where to begin, but we have to say that all the beautiful people of Ruffin’s hold a very special place in our heart. The store owner Mark, manager Melinda, and Nicole, Violet & the rest of the amazing team there truly show their love, dedication, knowledge & care for animals. We have the outmost admiration for a business that cares about their customers and pets and is there for us even past store hours. Thank you for always helping us, being there for us especially this summer when we lost our 14.5 year old lab. This is the store where you know you will get all you need and more for your fur babies.Thank you, Sam & Maria & family.p.s. We would love to see the counter moved back to the original place as we worry about your safety and cars that tend to be unsafe near store entrances in that area.

Trinity,Violet ,Sierra were all exceptional workers and just awesome people , very knowledgeable about the products in the store hands down the best store I've bin to and the manager Melinda was absolutely a treat to talk to very helpful knows her store inside and out excellent management they are Cleary a 10 star store but I could only give 5.

Staff is so friendly! They remember me (or my dog lol) even when I brought my dog in only once or twice. I love supporting small business and they are so close to me! They are much more convenient than the other pet stores :)

I really like this store for my supplies, like rat food and the enrichment available for small animals.Generally, I think this store is a great place to shop.I am disappointed though, that I purchased three sick rats from this establishment, and on emailing with my concerns, I have yet to hear back almost a week later.The rats are much better now, I’ve had them on antibiotics since getting them home. They’re almost back to full health, and acting much more like baby rats, instead of lying lethargically in a pile.There are ethical concerns with regard to rats in pet stores, as they’re often neglected due to lack of knowledge and improper care.It may not be illegal, but that doesn’t make it right.Staff did not seem to have basic knowledge of the animals or their care when asked simple questions, and this is concerning.The rats were also mislabeled according to their variety; ear position, markings, and coat type. This is kind of akin to false advertising, if you’re selling to someone who doesn’t know the difference, and thinks they’re getting something they’re not.Overall, I feel this is a great place to buy supplies, but not animals.
