We came to Boundary Bay on the recommendation of Fraser Height Animal Hospital. At first, Fraser Height Hospital found some bruises on Henry's belly and suggested that we do a blood test. During the period of waiting for the results, Henry suddenly had nose bleeding at home. Fraser Height Hospital directly recommended us to come to Boundary Bay. Henry is a rescue dog. He has only been in Canada for a month. As his forster family, I treat him like my own child and I felt everyone there treated him that way too. I am very nervous and worried when I see him bleeding. I came to the Boundary Bay at night and communicated with the doctor and made a plan to try to do a bone marrow, but Henry was taken over by Dr. Jonason the next day morning, and she gave a treatment plan with less harm and relatively low cost.Afterwards, Dr. Johnston diagnosed Henry as IMTP, and he treated it according to this. During this period, Henry experienced the platelet drop to the lowest point, and was told by the phone at three or four o'clock in the night that he would need plasma and platelet transfusion, which made me sleepless all night. But let me know for the first time what treatments Henry has undergone. After another 24 hours, the treatment and medication finally worked, the nosebleed that had flowed for 48 hours finally stopped and my hanging heart relaxed.Dr. Johnston’s professional knowledge and timely communication are especially important in our case. The staff also allowed us visiting time for a while each day which was so heartwarming.Boundary Bay also applied discounts for rescue dogs for us. You must know that the treatment of this disease cost 10,000 dollar, but it is worth it in exchange for Henry‘s life.I hope that our follow up visit will get better and better. It is a trustworthy hospital.Couldn’t be more thankful for everyone who worked there.

My little papillon Cypress had to be hospitalized due to severe pancreatitis for a few days after he experienced a large amount of vomiting which progressed to not eating, lethargy, and a very painful abdomen. They were excellent at keeping me updated on how he was doing, and what the plan/options were moving forward. He was in great hands and I'm very grateful to the whole team for taking care of him. We will be returning so he can be seen by an internal medicine specialist in a few weeks for further follow up! And if we do ever have another emergency or need to be seen by a specialist they will be at the top of our list.

We are extremely satisfied with the service we were provided with when our 9 month old Pom, Sweetie, broke her leg. We initially went to the Boundary Bay hospital in Bellingham WA for the initial visit where they were able to set the fracture and put it in a cast until we could see a surgeon for further consultation. Due to the petite size of her bone and lack of proper hardware in Bellingham ,we were referred to the then Langley Boundary Bay SpecialtyHospital. We are so happy that this happened because the customer service there and the time spent with us by the surgeon was incredible. We have nothing but good things to say about every interaction to date with any and all staff. Emma ,Amara and Dr. Tanya Wright have been a pleasure to work with as well as the support staff and front office staff. We had reservations about crossing the border for vet care ,but those have gone out the window and we feel it's worth the drive to be treated with the respect and dignity that we have received to date from everyone at the Surrey/ Langley locations. You won't be disappointed! Thank you!

We recently brought our dog to Dr. Peter Gordon at Boundary Bay for a neurological consult. Dr. Gordon spent lots of time thoroughly explaining his thought process in deciding on the most likely explanation for our dog's symptoms and answered all of our questions. We never felt rushed, and he was very friendly. Moreover, my dog warmed up to him right away, which is unusual. We declined further testing, so there are still unknowns and things might change as we see how our dog does on medication, but we left feeling confident in our plan. I felt that the exam fee was great value even for the considerable amount of time Dr. Gordon spent with our dog, and even more so with his experience, thoroughness, and how considerate he was.

We were horrified when our seven month old puppy could suddenly no longer stand or walk due to what we later learned was a neurological issue.Within a day of seeing her, the doctors and specialists at Boundary Bay had diagnosed the issue, clearly explained the risks and complications, the cost, and provided a plan for surgery and recovery. The level of care our dog received here was incredible. Not only did our dog fully recover after two months—she would get excited, tail wagging, when we would bring her back to the hospital for follow ups with Dr. Gordon.During the critical time around surgery, the hospital made sure to call us with detailed updates twice a day, sent us videos of her progress, and generally just showed a level of concern in every interaction that was reassuring. With our dog under the care of Dr. Gordon and his team at BBSVH, we felt we were doing the right thing for her. She is now completely back to her normal self and we love her more than ever. Thanks Boundary Bay for helping us through a very difficult time and ensuring our dog had every chance it could to get better.

My initial experience with BBVSH was excellent . We brought my 16 yrs old dog Odie this morning to their ER for he had trouble in breathing. We were at the edge of losing him. Every staff was super helpful and sensitive to our needs. The ER Vet was beyond excellent. Besides being knowledgeable and caring, she explained everything or options very clearly and realistically. She called us late to update Odie's status. We can tell that she loves her job and her fury patients.Although Odie's outcome is still unknown, but I am certain that my baby is on good hands. The staffs are all angels and God bless them all.Cane

TPLO Surgery - 6 Year Old Abby is Dead.We brought our healthy 6 year old lab here for TPLO surgery and 5 weeks later, we had to make the most heart wrenching decision ever - to put her to sleep. We are from the interior of BC, but drove in, thinking Abby’s best bet was a surgical specialist. The surgery went well, but she started fighting a resistant bacteria. Despite being on 4 different antibiotics, it just got increasingly worse. At the 3 week point, we rushed her back to BBVSH, worried sick. After 2 days, we left, reassured that she would be fine. She was taking super strong antibiotics, anti nausea and pain meds. Even though these were the correct ones for the infection, she got worse. At the 4 week point, her incision was oozing, so we decided we were not going back to BBVSH. Our poor baby girl was suffering horribly, and we could see where this was going. She had been through enough. Dr Wright says there was more they could have done to save her, but we felt it was too late to keep torturing her and had lost confidence anyway. Maybe more could have been done, but it also might have meant more needless excruciating pain and illness, with the same results.A month after she passed, we discussed it with Dr. Wright, wanting to understand what went wrong. Apparently nothing went wrong. Abby’s issues had been diagnosed correctly, treated properly and she was given the right meds for the situation. The only fault was ours, for putting her to sleep instead of bringing her back for more treatment.Any surgery can result in death, but you just never think that a healthy 6 year old lab having TPLO surgery could result in such bad infection. We felt that the kindest thing to do was to let her go. We are heartbroken and live with awful memories. We are glad that so many people have had great experiences with this business and desperately wish we could report the same.

We came with our 12 year old dog with acute breathing troubles right around midnight. Before we arrived I called after being referred by our local emergency vet that was about to close for the day. The woman on the phone gave me quick guidance and reassurance my girl would receive quick care. Once we arrived, she was triaged quickly. They seemed busy, but not overwhelmed. We were given clear communication of the state of our girl, and options within 30 minutes. We had to ask the doctor back a few times to ask more questions, and she was patient, clear and compassionate. In the end we had to make the hardest decision of our lives, and I'm just floored with the compassionate end of life care received. My partner and I were not at our best in that moment, and the patience and empathy showed by all the staff was next level. Worst moment of my life, but floored by the quality staff here.
