Victoria Speech & Language Centre- Westshore

My dealings with Victoria Speech and Language Centre were always positive. Carla was able to schedule my daughter in for an assessment very soon after my first inquiry. Yvette the speech language pathologist that worked with us was very knowledgeable, professional, always prepared for our sessions and most importantly she was very engaging. Our visits felt much more like play than work and my daughter looked forward to seeing Yvette every week. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this centre to anyone.

It was truly a pleasure working with Nicky Addison. She has a calm, warm, clear and supportive communication style.Our diagnostic session was eye-opening. Talk about comprehensive, informative and reassuring. Based on that I was able to make the decision that therapy was right for me.I really enjoyed our sessions. I’m not sure speech therapy is supposed to be fun but Nicky made it so. I am so pleased with my end state.

Carla at Victoria Speech and Language Center is wonderful! We have 4 children and 3 of them have needed/are currently attending speech therapy. Over the last 5 years we have seen multiple speech pathologists while living in different parts of the country; I can honestly say that Carla has been, and continues to be, the best we’ve seen. She’s great with children but also great with the parents! Her calm and fun demeanour brings even my most shy child out of his shell. Where one speech pathologist threw up her hands in surrender, Carla openly accepted the challenge and succeeded. We may have a few more years of speech therapy ahead of us, but I can rely on Carla to get us through the seemingly never ending tunnel and into the light at the end.

My son attends a weekly group speech therapy session as well as a one-on-one speech therapy session with Carla Willock. Improvements have been made and we couldn't feel more content and comfortable here. Carla's experience is obvious in her confidence and approach in teaching. Her guidance and friendly rapport is effective not only with the children but us parents too. Carla's openness and feedback is an incredibly helpful way to get the entire family on board for a successful outcome - thank you!

I've been taking my 8yr old son here for over 5months and it has been a wonderful experience! They are professional, the office is clean and top-notch. We have been seeing Lucy for speech, because my son was missing some sounds. She has helped him come such a long ways with such ease. They learn a lot through games and fun ideas. She's always so welcoming to him when we arrive and he really likes his sessions.

The whole team at VSLC is incredible. My daughter has been with them since she was a year old (she is now almost 5). There have been times when I haven't been as involved as I would have liked, and the team, specifically Laura, has kept the continuity of therapy going for my daughter. She genuinely cares about my girl and knows her so well. Laura and Tieghan's progress notes are incredible, and it shows they really know how to support my girl. Laura comes to my daughter's daycare and collaborates with my daughter's BI to implement strategies to help her. She also advocates extremely professionally for our family if we think we need to be heard. I couldn't recommend VSLC anymore; they are all amazing, and I appreciate them immensely.

Amy and the rest of the team at Victoria Speech and Language are so wonderful. They are professional, yet personable and approachable. The centre is clean and bright, but not clinical. We really appreciate the flexibility and patience as we navigate our daughter's diagnosis of apraxia. A really great place to help people find their voices. My daughter loves seeing Amy and going to Speech School"."

I have high praise for the staff at Victoria Speech and Language. My SLP and OT are both lovely, professional, highly qualified, punctual and they have a genuine interest in helping our son reach his full potential. It is always a pleasure to attend his sessions. The front desk staff are warm and helpful. Carla is energetic, organized, friendly and always available if we have questions.

VLSC's neurodiversity-affirming and child-led approach has helped our child to thrive, and equipped us to better understand who she is as a person, her personality, strengths, and her unique needs for support. Our daughter has a great bond with her therapists, who are very knowledgeable, and we especially appreciate the option to have in-home sessions. I love how they focus on her strengths and appreciate her for who she is. She's making amazing progress in this supportive environment.

(I’m reposting my original review since I’ve changed accounts and there’s no way to transfer it.) I can’t rate VSLC highly enough! Definitely the best services for speech and OT on the Island. Carla recruits truly incredible staff. We have been working with Caitlin and Shannon so far who are both skilled and dedicated to helping their clients. They go above and beyond to build connection with my daughter and help her feel more at ease in sessions which is no small feat! They are willing to collaborate with other professionals on our team and try different approaches to prevent her from shutting down while gently expanding her boundaries and teaching new skills.The progress and growth we have seen so far is remarkable and well worth every penny. In fact, I’ll be forever indebted to them for their support. If you are looking for speech and/or OT services, this is definitely the best place to go!
