Just a bunch of ticket happy goons. Have they never heard of giving one warning? Document it in their computer then if it happens again then give a ticket. Go solve some crimes instead of ambushing people for a few km over. No wonder they get so little respect. Show a little compassion and empathy. JERKS.

While the crime rate in Alberta rises all I'm seeing is bylaw tickets being written and harassment of innocent citizens. So how can anyone respect or admire so called law enforcement. System is broken from the politicians down to their goon enforcers. Alberta was once the best province in this country but now it's one of the worst. More cops seems to equal more crime???

I've always been proud of Alberta's own. In college days it was known as the Alberta Solicitor General's Highway Patrol. They had tough territory as the RCMP resented what seemed to them as a competitor agency. Eventually the RCMP lobbyist was able to trigger a vote in the legislature in 1989 and it was unceremoniously disbanded. Bob Dowling then Tourism Minister stated that the lobbyist claimed it was out if necessity as they did not need 2 agencies on the road racing each other to accidents. It now slowly re-emerged from the Commercial Scales and Provincial prisons to being a small department that works highways and special projects. Ralph Klein when departing as premier extended the provincial police review from 10 to 20 years so it may take awhile to formally replace policing with a more cost effective Provincial Police.About a year ago a small sports car blasted past my wife and I on the HWY 16, 4 lane and braked so hard crossing in front of me for the ditch. I braked to a stop so hard my truck left four liquid rubber black skid marks on the highway. We missed the bumper of the sports car by 1/4 inch. When the smoke cleared a Sheriff Trooper slowly passed us on the fast lane, crossed in front of us, pulled behind the now stopped sports car and in 3 seconds ordered the driver to not proceed and waved us on. I regret now for not waiting a few more minutes to write a complaint out against the sports car driver for criminal dangerous driving. I have never been more proud to have that Alberta Sheriff looking after our highways. The RCMP has not evolved, Alberta needs a dedicated highways unit and allow the RCMP to get back into Rural Policing and crime investigations. The thin blue line is stretched to thin. Lets hire 1000 new Alberta troopers and stop the carnage on the roads and protect our province. Give them a wide blue stripe on their new uniforms.
