Misericordia Community Hospital Emergency Department

This hospital is just one example of how bad our Heath Care system is failing. I waited 10 hours and when I asked for information on how long it would be the nurse was dismissive and made me feel like I needed to validate the seriousness of my illness. If you can go to another hospital you should. This hospital is often over capacity with nurses/staff who are burnt out.

Avoid this hospital. Your concern will not be treated as an emergency and *not a single person checks on you unless you're causing chaos or have someone there advocate to advocate for you.* When we checked in with one of the nurses 6h into ER visit, she hinted that there was a mis-triage of our case and only once we talked to her, was there any development in our admission. Pathetic place.

Doctor was amazing! Porters were great too! But where the problem lies was the xray guys attitude yesterday. And today the front desk ladies were ignerant. I called to get a wheel chair as I am having severe pain. And got told off then finally transferred to emerge. Lady comes out with no chair. And get irritated when requesting one. They acted as if I was exadurating the worst pain in my life. Thanks you to the amazing techs who helped me when I needed it. And understood my pain . The rest of yall need some better bed side manners. Front desk is more interested in gossiping vs patient care.

Watch out for this lady working by the door sitting at the table. She must be NA but oh boy she is soooo rude. She can make your emerg visit as hell. Her job can be tough dealing with sick but oh boy she is so burn out she should not be working. And there was the famous long wait. That night my wife has dental infection and my densist wrote the letter stating the fever was the result of the infection. The emergency protocol basically ignores his letter. She had visible large inflammation and the letter by a dentist stating that the fever was due to the infection another triage nurse not only put her in a longer wait even though the solutiion was clear enough but also put her in a room a ful of people who were throwing up etc because she was considered to have covid like symptoms. When it comes to waiting time in emergency care in Canada it is the worst.

This emergency room is the worst staff are too busy to care. You ask a question they ignore you. You can see staff just sitting on their phones. When someone cares" enough to ask what's the problem they tell you you just need to wait."

My 6 year old daughter had an accident last weekend which resulted in a visit to the ER. Our total time spent in the hospital was around 4 hours. The hospital is really old and dated but we thought it was clean (even the washroom). The triage nurse was lovely and the xray techs completely put her at ease. My daughter had a pretty bad cut above her lip which needed stitches. The Doctor was fabulous with her! All week she's been telling everyone how she had a silly Doctor who loves My Little Pony" and how he wrapped her up "like a hotdog" to do her stitches! Thank you for making such a scary event less stressful for myself & her!! The stitches were removed today and the scar looks better than we could have ever imagined!"

Worst emergency experience, I am not sure why it is called emergency department, I was waiting for 9 hours for attention from the staff which i did not get, I went to other emergency 2 days ago and they did not do ultrasound( my GP said they just wanted to send you home and after that from GP requisition got an appointment after 4 days)same evening abdominal pain got worse so had to go to emergency otc pain killers did not work for me, while waiting I requested for tylenol or advil because we dont carry in the pocket, I was refused, my question is if they are not sure how long it will take and condition is non emergency why dont they inform the patient that you are going to stay here in waiting for 24 hours so patients can prepare themselves and check if they can go to another hospital. If the hospital is already full with critical cases during that time also, why they dont inform patients waiting and suffering in pain the waiting room, that there are no rooms it will take few hours to days. In emergency why they don’t have non emergency treatment as well no room needed doctor and nurse practioner can rule out emergency and give them treatment or rx and resolve the problem, patients comes( for them its obviously emergency thats why they came to hospital, no one likes to wait for hours in pain in hospital) why they dont have private hospital someof us can pay for services and it will reduce burden on this departments. there are few emergency departments in the city, one has longer wait time than others, why dont they offer transfering file to the other one so these patient can get treatment in same waiting ( ofcourse who are willing to go to another hospital) and believe me I was. system does not work, we have 1 non urgent care hospital after 5 and their capacity is less. I am exhausted and sick.

The emergency depth in this hospital cannot get sny worse. My granddaughter went in complaining of chess pain, they immediately took her in for an ecg. Disconndcted her then shuffled her into a room that I can only call the Dump and forget room". She then sat for 4.5 hours

I see people around me suffering in a tiny room with god knows what problem they have.Me and the people here have been waiting for more than 6 hours now and all we did is wait. I’ve seen nurses ignore or just didn’t look at their patients in the patio. No wonder the health care system is Canada is a joke. It might be free but you wait till you die in a nutshell.
