After using Acre Studio for our modern Toronto residence a few years back, we asked if they would help with our summer home near Collingwood. It's a rural property and we needed to put in a new driveway, pond, and tree planting in addition to the patio and pool at the house. We were really impressed with Sylvie's ability to see the overall vision and work with the existing topography and site conditions. When construction was completed, everything immediately felt like it belonged, and we're really happy to see how much the new work enhanced the overall site.

We had a very good experience with Acre Studio. From day one we knew we were in capable hands, Sylvie's experience and professionalism guided us through the permitting process, and the design was original and aligned with our hope-for aesthetic (of course we had to make some compromises, but those were based on our budget). We had her stay on the project throughout the construction. She was quick to respond to questions and was very solution-oriented when obstacles like covid material shortages came up (and very honest about the inflation of cost; that helped us prepare). She worked well with our contractors and we are very pleased with the end result.

I regret using this business. The biggest issue was a lack of responsiveness - I waited 3-4 weeks on average to get an email response (currently on week 6 after 2 email follow-ups), secondary to Sylvie paying zero attention to any of our design preferences/notes (ex. I specifically asked for a traditional wood pergola, the design featured a metal one; we asked for a transitional style and gave lots of examples on a shared google doc and photos, the design given was distinctly cold/modern in style). We wanted to move forward to secure a landscaper for the coming season, so asked for a draft of our designs (she held our it hostage until we paid the remainder of what we owed her for the full job ($4000 ish) even though the designs were incomplete... and I received nothing but attitude when I shared questions that multiple landscapers posed about features that were missing from her drawings. I hate to write this but after 3 years of renovations/working with various service providers, I can honestly say this has been the most frustrating experience I have had with any one we have hired.In response to the response: suggesting that I was unresponsive to you is just plain dishonest. I happen to keep record of all unanswered emails, calls and texts and would be happy review this with you.I would have also happily connected you to our contractor and suppliers I had to source myself because you said you couldn't find us anyone until 2023.I have not been satisfied with any part of this experience. It has created a ton of additional work and stress, that I was trying to avoid by hiring you in the first place.I do not wish to continue this unpleasant conversation. I sincerely hope this motivates you to provide better care to your future clients.
