Savoury Chef

Ordered several meals as take and bake for family Christmas dinner. Food was of low quality - most sides unseasoned and without the described 'condiments' (ie. Maple glaze brussels with pumpkin seeds, etc. - only half cooked plain unseasoned brussels, no seeds or toppings). Ham was very clearly off when opened (grey, slimy, fatty) - this was the worst part. Portions were ok but on the light side (except turkey which was on the large side).Last review was harsh but we were upset as we were left without a proper Christmas meal and all places closed. Owner responded well so hopefully next time it's better.We have also used Savoury Chef for catering at school events in the past and never had an experience like this - not sure what happened on this one.

I had an excellent experience with Savoury Foods right from the beginning planning the food choices with the staff to the very end with the courtesy and friendly delivery staff. The food was great and Leigh was the staff that helped me select canapes that worked with the guest's needs. She was really helpful with suggestions and very responsive with emails. I would definitely use Savory Chef again for future events. Very well run company that seem to care about your catering needs. Thank-you.

Typical average/bad catering fare. Sent burritos to our office and the 'chicken' burritos were barely chicken flavoured. Maybe 2 tablespoons of chicken in each one. They are one of the cheaper items in the menu but would not suggest this place if you want proper meals supplied.

Ordered catering for an office event. Short rib tagliatelle pasta, kale and sausage bolognese and vegetarian lasagna. They all got positive feedback, and were served hot and tasty. My only gripe is that they forgot that it was supposed to be packaged individually, but it was packaged buffet style. This turned out to be a good thing, as people could taste a mix of pasta!

I called Savoury Chef a week before New Year’s Eve as we were were travelling to Vancouver to visit family and wanted to host a small New Year’s Eve dinner at our son’s house. We spoke with Leigh and she couldn’t have been more pleasant, helpful and accommodating to pull together a wonderful Family Style meal with appetizers and desserts. The food was outstanding including the very nice china serving dishes, utensils, condiments and very professional menu cards to signal to Gusts what each dish was. (every detail was thought of). Our format was heat and serve with all items cooks appropriately for reheating. Portion sizes were also very generous with left overs for many. I should also mention Leigh’s ability to assist with dietary concerns. (GF). Finally I will mention that Savoury Chef’s pricing was very reasonable given the quality and level of service. I do not write many positive reviews as I tend to be a little difficult to please, by my own admission. If you are looking for a caterer for your event, I don’t think you could find a better choice from beginning to end. Thank you Leigh for making this happen for us on short notice (especiaon one of your busiest nights of the year). If you have any friends in Ontario who can pull this off, let us know. WARNING: Unprofessional services and poor qualityWe ordered two large dessert boxes for our school event after reading many positive reviews for Savoury Chef. Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience. Savoury Chef sent us two boxes of 40 desserts instead of the 46 pieces they had advertised on their website. 1 or 2 missing pieces might be understandable, but 12 missing pieces is unacceptable. They did not send us any macarons either, which were supposed to be included in the large dessert box. The labels on the boxes also said “small” instead of large, which made the situation even more confusing.After calling Christine about these problems, she gave us an insincere apology stating she’s “sorry that it wasn’t what we envisioned” and “the pastry chef checked the number of desserts before the box left the shop.” She basically blamed us for having high expectations for the food. Of course it wasn’t what we envisioned... It isn’t even what we ORDERED. Never did she admit the shop did anything wrong, despite them being at fault for the situation. The fact that Christine blamed the customer for the shop’s mistake is insulting and highly unprofessional.We are extremely disappointed in Savoury Chef’s services. The desserts were tiny and not worth the price. I can’t believe we paid over $260 for this horrible experience. Please stay away from this business!

Food was ordered for group and it was so nice. Quality was in every item . Only some of chicken souvlaki was a little cold.Desert was awesome.

Savoury Chef catered our evening event of about 80 guests. We ordered several cold-served canapés and platters with coffee and tea. Everything was delicious and nicely presented. The drop off and pick up was smooth. Ellison helped us select items that would work well for our event and some dietary restrictions. Good communication throughout. Thank you Savoury Chef team- we will reach out for future events!

We just hosted a party with 80 people and had it catered by Savoury Chef. We chose a mix of several different canapes, including desserts. Leigh was extremely helpful with selecting items that suited our tastes, and in helping identify and work around dietary restrictions for certain guests. The items were served beautifully, and everyone (myself included) raved about how delicious they all were. A huge thank you to the team who made it come together for us! Will definitely be using Savoury Chef again for our next event.
