Salvosa Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Academy

Very good BJJ school. Professor Omar is an excellent instructor and he really sets the tone for the other instructors as well - firm & demanding, but also encouraging and supportive. Would definitely recommend. The only reason we stopped going is because we moved - we're hoping to find as good a school at our new place of residence. If we were to return to the GTA and our son still wanted to continue, would enrol him here again.

Great place to learn and train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu! The head instructor/owner Professor Omar Salvosa is extremely nice, well spoken, and attentive, making the entire learning process so much better. He brings a positive up beat energy to training which makes it less intimidating and more fun! Omar ensures that he spends time with beginners so that they can develop their skills properly. It’s nice to get such close attention from such a high ranking black belt. The other instructors here are also all very nice and experienced. Quite honestly, the best part of this school is the people. There are no egos, there’s a lot of experience, and everyone is willing to help! Highly recommend coming here for your training! Whether you are brand new or quite experienced, this school caters well to everyone.

I have been training here for about a year once a week (due to my busy schedule), but could not have found a better place to train. Professor Omar and all of the other instructors are super helpful and humble.I am no stranger to martial arts as I was a former National Champ in judo and university wrestling coach. I have been around the block and ensure those looking for a club to call their own to check out this club.Having done martial arts my whole life, I expect martial artists (high character individuals) wherever I train. Salvosa BJJ is full of high character individuals. Highly recommended club.

I am grateful to be a part of Professor Omar's academy. Salvosa BJJ Ascension is an amazing place to learn and practice the art of jiu-jitsu. The instructors are amazing and the higher belts are always available to help improve your technique and offer guidance as needed. They always respect your boundaries and you are never forced to do anything that you don't feel comfortable doing. I started taking my daughter here for jiu-jitsu back in May of 2016. I was so amazed by the welcoming atmosphere and the professional instruction by Prof. Omar and the other coaches that I signed up right after. I like the fact that it doesn't matter where you are on your bjj journey (age, size/shape or skill level), Prof. Omar has the knowledge, attentiveness and personality to bring out your potential in his instruction. Meet him in person and you'll know what I mean!

Love this academy so much! Professor Omar places a unique emphasis on team spirit and students on the mats follow suit. Everyone is so supportive making this a uniquely welcoming place for anyone new to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. There are also many high ranking belts who will help you level up your game if you are already experienced. I look forward to every training session. Highly recommend!

Whether you're a seasoned veteran or a brand new beginner there is definitely a place for you at Salvosa's BJJ. I've always been impressed by Omars care and respect for his students. Omar is definitely an expert in the art of BJJ, but most importantly he knows how to treat both his old and new students with a high degree of care and reseepct. My first and only academy for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. Professor Salvosa is an amazing instructor that relies on his technique rather than natural abilities for effective Jiu Jitsu. His coaching/teaching is both encouraging & motivating, helping me win multiple tournaments throughout the years of my training under him.Not only has this academy helped me develop my martial arts skillset but has shaped me into a better person off the mats. Exceptional academy. Great with kids. Strikes a perfect balance of development, safety, discipline and fun. Omar understands each kid (and parents) so well and provides the right kind and level of guidance and experiences. Those who want to compete are exceptionally prepared.

Been coming to Salvosa Jiu Jitsu academy for about 3 months now and I can happily say that this is one of the better Brazilian jiu jitsu gyms in Toronto. Located in Scarborough no longer than 5 mins from Scarborough Town Centre. Professor Omar Salvosa who owns and operates the academy is also one of the primary instructors there. He teaches the beginner classes as well as the intermediate classes as well as the drills and positioning classes. The coaches who aid the prof in teaching have all been excellent as well. I came into this academy fresh, with no prior martial arts experience and I can safely say that with a professor like Omar and all the different coach’s help, I have gotten significantly better in my self defence capabilities and my confidence has been boosted tremendously as a result. No regrets coming here, huge recommendation from me, easiest 5 stars I’ve ever given
