As an American (United States) who for most of my life lacked real urbanite experiences and whose exposure to certain necessary counter-cultural" experiences has been sadly limited

This is a wonderful spot to catch some very special collections of film. From nosferatu, to the sex and violence cartoon festival. This is a movie house with character. Don't expect cushy seats, but do expect an interesting fun time.

Reginald Is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet. I love his theatre and the overall environment.

This is the best cinema in Toronto. Intimate and lovingly curated. Not fancy, maybe a little worn, but done proper. Reg Hartt is a tyrant (he will kick you out if he feels you don't deserve to be there), but he is the most knowledgeable person in the business. This theatre is an institution and a gem of the city.

Reg Hart advertises his wed. night screening as PWYC but warning!!! this is not the reality. We tried to give him what we could afford as we are low income artists, but he told us to get out and never come back again! He was so shockingly rude that I strongly discourage anyone from supporting this man's business. He doesn't deserve your money.

Reg Hartt is a Toronto original. His stories are entertaining and engaging and the movies he shows are wild. His talks are a treat too. His home is full of curios and weird stuff to look at, and he is a friendly guy. Worth checking out for a unique experience. Byob

Incredible trip through sublime juggling, acting and interpersonal introspection incinevitro. Thanks Reg for your hospitality. I felt like I was attending the new heights of perception film college. I left laughing, singing and dancing.

Came here on a Wednesday to see Metropolis, and it was one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had in Toronto. The theatre is set up in Reg’s living room - there’s a huge screen and a ton of cool decor. Reg does a talk at the beginning and during the intermission of the movie - mostly about his life and experiences in the industry. If you’re expecting an in-depth analysis of the film, that’s not what this is, but you will get his pov on some of the main themes.Reg composes his own score for the movie - intermingling the new music with the film music - so if you’re looking to watch with the original audio, keep that in mind. The new score definitely added to the unique experience. All in all, I’d recommend Cineforum if you’re looking for a interesting movie-watching experience in the city. It wasn’t my cup of tea, but I’m really glad I went!
