Dave King has been (and continues to be) a fantastic piano teacher for our kids (ages 7 and 9). He has a very strong technical background and always ensures that our kids learn the proper technique. He also understands that each kid is different and may need different strategies to keep them engaged. His exam prep is also very thorough, which helped our son achieve first class honours on his Grade 3 exam.

My daughter has been taking piano lessons through Upbeat for a few years and she really enjoys it. There are recitals three times a year (before COVID-19), which helped to build her confidence. Since the pandemic, we’ve been doing online lessons and they are just as engaging for her. She is excited to start using RCM books this fall and she is interested in doing a test. Her teacher is encouraging her to grow as a piano player and, after a few years of experience, she feels like she wants to do it. I’m pleased with our experience.

Jennifer from Upbeat Piano has been a great teacher to my kids! She tailors her instruction to suit the age, personality and skill level for each of them. They truly appreciate her patient and kind approach, and it is having a positive impact on their perception and enjoyment of music! I highly recommend Jennifer!

Our kids have been taking piano with Christine for two and a half years and they love it! Christine is a fantastic teacher who has connected really well with our kids. She brings such a great balance of fun and structure to the lessons. She is patient with our kids and encourages them to be creative. The kids love the recitals and look forward to performing and to hearing all the other students. I highly recommend Upbeat Piano Studio.

All four of us have really enjoyed having Melanie as our piano teacher. She is very encouraging and thorough. She caters her teaching style to each kid's strengths whether they are just playing for fun or are taking the Royal Conservatory exams. We have had her for more than 5 years. I highly recommend her program!

I have been taking lessons here for the last 3 months and I can’t say enough good things about my experience. Dan’s passion and knowledge for music comes through in his teaching methods. He has a great variety of songs he has introduced, but is very open to suggestions and has made my interest a part of my lessons. He is very patient and willing to go over the mechanics and help you perfect a maneuver. What I didn’t expect was how much about music structure and theory I would learn as well. Dan has really tapped into my motivation to take music lessons.

I was a student of Melanie's for over ten years and loved her student-focused teaching style. Melanie's attentiveness to my needs really helped me progress through the Royal Conservatory of Music grades. Not only would she take the time to understand my skills as a player, but she also catered to my preferences in music, helping foster my love for the romanticism in piano. With Melanie's help, piano developed into an essential outlet for creative and emotional expression - an outlet which I still cherish as I progress adulthood. I cannot thank her enough for being an extraordinarily kind and caring teacher and mentor.

Upbeat Piano Studio is a well-run music school. My daughter loves the lessons with her piano teacher Jennifer and is always happy to see her. Same about my son who is a pre-schooler and doesn't take the piano lessons yet - however he also loves Jennifer and she encourages him to try out the piano. Thank you for making learning the piano a pleasant experience for my kids!
