Pet Valu

My first visit. There is a lot of stuff here. Picked up a large soft sided carrier for my two cats.The staff and owner have thorough knowledge of their products and spent a good amount of time with us. We got a lot of attention and some good recommendations. We are also trying out raw food products of which there is a full selection here.I like this place!I think this is the first 5 star review I've ever posted.

Great staff who were very friendly and helpful. Wide selection of products. Lots of parking.

They had everything I needed, on a Sunday. Pet supplies for a rabbit and a rat. They have a great selection of dog and cat stuff as well! Staff was very nice!

There was a Meet & Greet today at this PetValu. A very good store with a wide variety of foods, toys, etc for my pets. And they had some very cute puppies up for adoption from Paws 4 Love.

Purchased cat food and cat litter (World's best cat litter) and bags for Litter Locker for my two cats. Other times I buy lite dogfood, yes you guessed it for my dog. Helpful staff.

My favourite pet store. It’s small but well-stocked and staff are friendly.

Very helpful and friendly staff. You pay a little more, but you get more personal service and more variety than big box stores.

I have had many positive experiences at this Pet Valu and have become a regular customer and familiar face since moving to Thunder Bay at the beginning of the pandemic. Unfortunately, my initial experiences shopping here were highly unpleasant and the way I was treated by employees was unacceptable.To elaborate, on several occasions, I have not only had employees watch my every move in this store, I have been physically followed and crowded with incessant asking “how can I help you”s and “is there something I can help you find”s. These instances were excruciatingly uncomfortable for me to the point that I rushed pay and get out, having proved that I was, in fact, a paying customer and not a thief.I have never in my life felt like I could not shop in peace in the way that I have since coming to Thunder Bay at the beginning of the pandemic. This Pet Valu is not the only store that has made me feel this way. I am a person of colour and suspect that, especially with a mask on, I might pass for indigenous. I am confident that I have been profiled in this store and ask that store owners and managers reflect hard on their shortcomings when it comes to educating employees on proper conduct. Better yet, I hope those in charge of employment will begin to actively seek BIPOC employees and work towards diversifying their teams and breaking down barriers in the pet industry.

Ordered online. The store called when my item was ready. Called when I got there and delivered it to a table outside. Quick and easy.
