We visited many places around the UBC area that day and by the end of our visit at Sage we were almost certain that it would be our venue. Nicky was an excellent events coordinator/manager. He provided us with a great tour of the facility. After the menu tasting we decided it was the place for our wedding. The venue:Great view to the mountains and the Ocean! It is next to the rose garden and many other great venues for the wedding portraits. We needed a few family rooms, and they offered us all the rooms we needed (three) two of them facing the fountain/pond. One then was so beautiful we took our family portraits there. The food:We had the Fit for Chef menu. All of the courses were excellent! I loved the lobster gnocchi and the steak was superbly done. The fish was a tad on the dry side, but with a big group maybe it is a challenge to get that perfect. The lava cake was amazing too!The service:The staff at Sage was really accommodating to our needs, and they are flexible. We were able to drop things the night before, which was great! Nicky was always attentive to my questions and tried his best to make things happen. We had request to bring food from outside (pig roast - Chinese tradition) and they were super accommodating. We also had a surprise band. We were able to arrange it too, as they had a space and curtains to hide them :)

We had our wedding ceremony at Rose Garden on September 2020 followed by an outdoor dinner reception at Sage’s outdoor patio. We set up tent and lights by Sage’s pond and it turned out so beautiful and romantic. Nicky was super helpful and patient with me in terms of making table arrangements and contingent plans. He and his team went above and beyond to make sure our wedding was a success. Their food was delicious and our guests had a wonderful time. The staff helped us abide by all the health protocols for COVID and we are grateful we were able to have a beautiful wedding in this special time. We are very glad that we chose Sage to be our wedding venue.

Sage is the exclusive caterer for Cecil Green Park House, so they come as a package. Still, I'd rather they didn't, given the mixed experience.First, the food was delicious - no complaints there. Communication was a bit more challenging. The people we dealt with at first seemed new in the job and struggled to answer questions that weren't totally run of the mill. Once Bogdan took over, everything cleared up. Thanks Bogdan! The menu for 2022 was delayed multiple times, and when it finally came out prices had been hiked by 25% on average (and vendor meals by, somehow, 60% - from $25 to $40). Sure, inflation etc, but I happen to know where to look this up - google statcan personal inflation calculator" - and grocery price inflation in BC from Feb 2021 to Feb 2022 was 6.6%

Tuesday, I on my own went in at 11:20am, the manager, I presumed, said they would be full at 12. He had to check and check to find me a table. I was grateful he gave me a table. I ordered quickly. Service reasonable. Bread was old and one piece was soggy. The appetizer Grill Octopus salad $13 with two short tentacles and two thin slices of over fried dry Chorizo sausage on a big bed of soggy turnips. The main course was Sous Vide Pork Belly $29 which looked good, but the 2 scallops were only seared on the top side, the pork belly was so salty that I had to eat every mouthful with a bit of bread. The white sauce was tasty though. I could not eat all the pork, really too salty. The home made Lychee ice-cream $8 was the best of the three course lunch which costed $60 with tips. $60 spent, but I had hardly eaten - bread, 2 tentacles, 2 scallops, 2/3 of the 2x2x2 in. pork belly, garnish and ice cream. I paid my bill at 12:30pm, but there were only 4 more tables were occupied! Why the manager had trouble finding me a table!

“I’M TELLING YOU THAT FOOD WAS SO GOOD!” These were the words of one of my good friends, whose husband is a chef and owns a restaurant on South Granville. Other quotes from my wedding guests include, “that steak was so incredibly tender” and, “Sablefish is my favourite, but it never tasted so good before!”. My vegan friend came up to me during dinner, fork in hand and said, “you have to try this. It’s the best mushroom I’ve ever had”. In fact, every time I ran into a friend after our wedding, the memory of the food would come back to them, and mid-sentence, their eyes would widen and they’d say, “oh my god! The food!” It was so rewarding to hear how the people I loved felt nourished and beyond satisfied with their meal at our wedding. The catering and bartending staff were also phenomenal! They were so friendly and helpful – I remember one staff who held my plate for me at the buffet while I held the train of my dress up. And I can’t thank Levi enough, who was our food and beverage manager. He always answered my emails in a timely way, and he managed to snag the last few rental patio warmers in the city before our October wedding. Because we were married during pandemic restrictions, dancing wasn’t permitted indoors, but with the patio warmers and a covered patio, our guests sang karaoke and danced their hearts out!(photos @georgiajohnstonphotography, decor & turquoise linens @ellssirentals, florals @jorbelinaflowers, venue @cecilgreenparkhouse)

I have never had a bad experience using sage catering! in all honestly, I have nothing but positive things to say about this company. They have not only the best food, but incredible staff! Food quality and presentation are ALWAYS delicious and on point. “Incredible” is also an understatement for sage staff. This team is accommodating, responsive, extremely nice and always a pleasure to work with - in conclusion, I highly recommend sage for catering. If you’re looking for the best customer service, and amazing food, then sage should become your go-to for catering.

I had my wedding recently and as Sage is the choice caterer for UBC events we used them for our wedding. Our guests had nothing but good things to say about the food and that made me very happy. They were able to accommodate all of our requests and were professional. I was very happy with their service and would recommend them to others!
