I struggle with getting my hair cut the way I want it to be. Island haircutting is the only place I have found where they give me a good haircut consistently. Last time I treated myself to an expensive haircut at a fancy" salon I lived with regrets for months. Should never have gone somewhere else."

I went for a much needed haircut today. Big, big disappointment. I made an appointment and was brought in on time. I wanted to have my hair trimmed, as it is just beyond shoulder length. Ok - I shared that. I was brought to my chair, my hair was separated in clips and about 3 inches was cut off the length in about 5 let downs from the clips which were holding my hair up- which it was truly needed. . No examination or talking about what I really wanted, no wetting my hair, no offer of a shampoo or curl. I was done in about 10 minutes. I then had to ask to have my bangs trimmed.(UGH!!!!!!! But Why????) I was just a put in a chair, and the hairdresser did not ask me If I wanted a wash, blow dry or curl. What was even worse, my husband went in before me and had a 30 minute haircut and style. My hair is 5 times the length of his!!!!!!!!!! This is a very poor salon. And really, I did not want you to tell me that you hated the snow and could not work for the past 4 days. It is supposed to be a special experience to have your hair done, You were not even busy, but DID mention that your rates have gone up as of Jan and there was nothing you could do about it.... I really don't care! I wanted to have an experience and I felt like cap when you finished. Maybe if you had even offered to show me my haircut in a mirror after you WERE DONE with me, I actually had a date with my husband after this, and wanted to look pretty. You failed and we will not be back. Stay away from this place....

My 15 year old son had his haircut there today.. was horrendous. His dad had to fix it when he got home. Not sure what they did to his hair or what type of scissors they used. But perhaps should not charge 30$ for a haircut if they are going to butcher someones hair. We will definitely not be going there again !!

Went in on Friday as a last resort because no one else was available (that should have been a red flag). Got into the salon and noticed there was a notice saying they add a $4.00 sanitation fee to every service (no other business has added a charge for doing this). I sat in the chair and noticed it was wet and slimy, I got up to see they hadn't wiped the sanitizer off very well at all and that a bunch of clumps of hair from the previous client was in the chair. The guy began to cut my hair and stopped in the middle of it 2-3 times to answer the phone and once to talk to another customer in person. I found this really odd. The haircut finished and I went home to shower and when I got out I saw my sideburns were way higher than I asked and they were uneven on each side by about a 1/4 I also noticed that the rest of my hair was not cut evenly or faded correctly. I called and told them I was disappointed with it and they asked if I was sure. They asked if I wanted them to fix it or get a refund

Great haircut, no gratitude.My wife and I went to the Ladysmith shop yesterday for much needed cuts. We were on time and stylists were ready for us. Cuts were excellent and efficient. I was impressed so I left a $20 tip for each of us feeling that the stylists, having been out of work because of Covid could use the extra. I guess a $20 tip for a $22 haircut was not enough because neither of the stylists could bother to say thank you, or goodbye, or a single word.I guess a thank you was too much trouble for what I thought was a pretty generous tip.This won’t happen again.

So I was asking about the exact price with tax.. for a basic cut.. to rid split ends ..I made it clear....I didn't need the most expiriance stylist.. ..So I inquired about price at Cornation mall.. for the same... the price was almost $10 more! than the exact same salon Island Haircut in Duncan !!what's up with that?I have to say all the styles that I've used are very good very knowledgable ...but don't like how the prices jump around and change in the same day..

I did not feel welcome at all. Feels very depressing in there. No one smiles and it took almost an act of Parliament to be able to get a seat next to my granddaughter while she got her hair cut. I will not go back.

Honestly I would have rather dragged a rake over my head then have to go back there…I showed up on time and I sat in one of the chairs and had probably the worst experience for a hair cut. I have honestly not a very complex hair cut and the lady cutting my hair snagged my ear and then instead of apologizing she stated “You have really sensitive ears! I’ve never cut anyone before” which was really strange…Then she smacks my head and knocks one of my earrings out and says that I should invest in a better earring back because they fall out way to easy…Once the cut was done I think an average job was done, but definitely not for the price, way to expensive I’d rather should have gone into Nanaimo.I still left her a small tip which she scoffed at, which I though was generous seeing she cut me and all…
