Fostering Debate Talent Academy

FDT is just like its name, fostering the students that are talented or want to develop their skills in debate.Their mission is aligned with their daily work and communication of their coaches and staff. The coaches there are very professional and responsible, they monitor my daughter's learning status and give very detailed feedback frequently. The admission staff Luna is so kind and helpful, she went through the detailed information about the debate at the beginning patiently, and always response my inquiries quickly. My daughter had tried different debate organizations, but like FDT the best due to the class atmosphere. I would highly recommend it.

FDT is terrific! My son has been with FDT for a couple of years or so and was made to feel welcome from Day 1. He really enjoys the tournaments and has learned so much. Not only has the FDT experience improved his debating skills and his overall confidence in public speaking, but it has also generally helped him turbo-charge his skills for his writing assignments in high school. Enrolling our kids at FDT has been the best decision we ever made. Their caring, intellectual and exceptional teachers have helped our kids develop their passion for public speaking, critical thinking, debate and they are now highly skilled in presenting their thoughts in an organized and cohesive manner. The skills they are learning at FDT have helped them build their confidence and academics as they have been successful at many competitions. We are absolutely thrilled with our daughter’s experience at FDT; in the past three years since Victoria joined their classes, her confidence, knowledge, and debate demeanour have improved tremendously, and she enjoys every session she’s had so far; their coaches are amazing and put a lot of effort into the child’s improvement. As a parent, I enrolled my 14-year-old son in FDT in September 2022, to help him develop his skills in public speaking and critical thinking. During the try-out class, we were impressed with the structure of the class, where the teacher provided general information and background to enrich students' knowledge.However, as the months went by, the classes became more focused on mock debates, with teachers providing feedback on individual speeches. While the feedback was valuable, we were surprised to realize that each class cost $100, which seemed excessive for less than four minutes of teacher feedback to an individual student.Furthermore, FDT implemented new administration constraints that limit students to making up only three classes per school year. While we were not officially promised that making up classes would be allowed, this became problematic as my son sometimes needed to miss classes to attend other conferences or participate in debate contests.Overall, we found the classes at FDT helpful in developing our son's skills, but we caution other parents to consider the cost and administration constraints before enrolling their children in this institution.

Since our Son joined FDT, the staff have been very supportive in his development of public speaking and debating skills. He’s made many great friends from the program and we highly recommend anyone interested to give it a try. What do you have to lose, first class is free!

FDT is a great place for everyone to learn not only debate but critical thinking, confidence, and much more under the watchful eye of the academy’s excellent instructors and staff. My daughter and I are both thankful for the experiences she has had so far, and we highly recommend FDT.

I have nothing but good things to say about our experience with FDT. When my daughter expressed her interest in debate, I was so happy to have an option available for her to explore and develop her skill. She was immediately able to take a trial class and she was hooked from day one. It's an exceptional activity and I have seen a noticeable difference in her ability to communicate. The learning has helped elevate her abilities in multiple dimensions outside debate itself. The level of instruction, the instructors and staff have been exceptional and I would highly recommend FDT to any parent considering a personal development activity for their children.

FDT Academy is truly the best school for speech and debate in Vancouver and maybe even in Canada! The teachers care so much about the students and really know how to produce top speakers and debaters. I can’t thank FDT enough for instilling confidence and success into all the kids. 5/5 Stars and I would recommend this school to anybody interested or thinking of joining

FDT is simply amazing ! My child was very shy prior to FDT. I’ve seen a huge improvement in confidence level, communication skills, self esteem, critical thinking and writing skills. As a parent I would highly recommend FDT. My child is so engaged and loves the sessions & camps. All the staff and instructors truly go above and beyond. The community of parents and students are truly wonderful. Truly a game changing investment !
