I love this place so much. So far it's my favorite place in Victoria. It's small, which I like because I mostly go by myself or with one friend and I don't want any huge tables and loud crowds. This place has style, character, spirit. The staff is always friendly. Drinks are cheap. And they give you free buckets of peanuts and you can throw shells on the floor!If that was not enough - today I came there for a beer and they have an acoustic guitar guitar playing, no ticket needed.Thank you for being so awesome!

Very disappointing experience last weekend. Was asked to have a conversation with the bouncers near the door who proceeded to ask me to leave due to been seen to be too intoxicated while sitting at a table having a conversation with friends. I calmly asked for an explanation and was not satisfied with answer whatsoever. Saw the same thing happen with 4/5 other people who were also unfairly asked to leave. The actual reason was they had let too many people in and needed to reduce capacity, which was not the fault of the customers but actually the staff.Will be strongly recommending anyone in the future to avoid this place as it is clearly a badly run establishment.

I was walking by the waitress, and she turned into me and spilled a drink on me. She then rudely told me to watch where I was going. Even though she spilled the drink on me. I told her that she was the one who spilled on me. This kind of hospital should not be okay to customers.

Stopped by tonight with my boyfriend and a buddy, and I must say our server Rachel was AMAZING!! Hands down the BEST service that I've received in Victoria in a long time! The bar was packed and she rocked the floor! Keep up the good work! 5⭐️ to you!!!

Absolutely the best Gem of a place! Stayed at the Strahcona and saw it walking by for supper reservations. Will definitely go back and have a evening of fun, it was like walking back to my early 80's days! Well done guys!

Visiting beautiful Victoria and was recommended Big Bad Johns from friends back home who lived here at some point. I asked to sit at the bar and was IDed (turn 35 in a few weeks; it is clear that I’m no spring chicken). I don’t really like to carry my passport about in case of theft but had arrived that day and so thought I might have it. I took a few items out of my bag to try and find it (including a couple of sample bottles of whisky- I have a whisky business) and was told that was a problem. I have never been treated with such distrust! I went outside and the bloke followed me out with a walkie talkie. No idea who he was talking to but it made me feel very uncomfortable and upset. I love wee dive bars like this and usually find them friendly and welcoming. This really was not. What a shame.

I would give zero stars if I could. Terrible service, or lack thereof completely. Came in for a few drinks. Was completely ignored by the bar staff, not even so much as a hello, even upon attempting to ask for service. All so they could accomplish their shift change. No attempt at communication, only dirty looks of an unwelcoming nature.As well as refusal to provide management contact information.
