I recently considered staying at the Muir but after careful consideration, I decided against it. While the pictures of the hotel looked impressive, and the reviews praised its excellent East Coast service, certain factors made me question the value and quality of my potential stay.As a loyal Marriott member who has spent a substantial amount—$15,000—this year, I was shocked to discover that the Muir Hotel did not offer complimentary breakfast to Titanium members while charging upwards of $600US per night. This lack of consideration for loyal customers like myself was disappointing and raised concerns about the overall level of service and attention to detail provided by the hotel. If the Muir Hotel is cutting corners when it comes to accommodating loyal customers, it begs the question: what else might they be compromising on? Such disregard for loyal patrons casts doubt on the overall experience they provide.Considering the positive reviews highlighting exceptional East Coast service, I had initially been excited about staying at the Muir Hotel. However, due to the hotel's questionable practices and failure to meet my expectations, I made the decision to explore other lodging options. I did check out the property while in Halifax and am thoroughly disappointed in their lack of loyalty to Marriott customers. If they’re going to advertise being a part of Marriott Bonvoy, then they must fulfil the requirements of the program. In conclusion, my experience in evaluating the Muir Hotel in Halifax was disappointing. Despite its appealing visuals and reputation for East Coast service, the lack of complimentary breakfast for loyal customers and potential corner-cutting left me questioning the hotel's commitment to excellence. As a result, I opted not to stay at the Muir Hotel and sought alternative accommodations for my visit to Halifax.

Overall rather disappointing for the room rates they charge. The steam room/spa area is quickly showing its age and needs some attention for upkeep. Housekeeping failed to replace wash cloths which is normally no big deal, but for these prices I have high expectations. Was rather disappointed no Marriott benefits were offered here. We did get points for our stay but no upgrade, no executive lounge and no breakfast. In short, you'll get better value for money elsewhere (and better service elsewhere for these sorts of rates).

The hotel is very nice and the service was fine but there was a lack of recognition for elite members and it became an issue. They are supposed to give free breakfast to Marriott elite members. Please remember this is GUARANTEED by Marriott. Elite members spend a lot of money and book a lot of nights to get status to get these perks and they book hotels based on this expectation. The hotel simply ignores it and claims that the restaurant is not directly owned by them so that is their excuse. In lieu of that, they’re SUPPOSED to offer a $100 credit but they will make you fight for it - so you have no choice but to complain to Marriott corporate. In all honestly, it’s not worth the hassle and you’re better off to just book at the Marriott Harbourfront. The Harbourfront is lovely and they treat you great whether you’re an elite or not and they actually recognize the promised perks. It’s unfortunate that the Muir will try to take advantage of being a Marriott branded hotel but feel they are above following through with what is expected and guaranteed to Bonvoy members. I would suggest all Bonvoy members look elsewhere.

I don't often say this but I am impressed. The level of details, cleanliness, amenities, the restaurant and the staff is impressive. I didn't set my expectations too high given it's just a boutique brand affiliated with Marriott as part of their Autograph collection (mostly independently operated, 4 stars boutique Hotels), this is overqualified. My experience here is better than I had in many top luxury hotels in the names of Ritz Carlton, Waldorf Astoria, Four Seasons alike. We have only had a short stay here.We felt welcome, the service was attentive and without the in your face awkwardness

The best hotel experience I’ve ever had in North America. Highly recommend to stay here in your next visit to Halifax. Everything was perfect from the rooms, to the service, to the location. It felt like staying at a 5 star resort overseas somewhere because everything was so catered to the guests at the hotel. Not to mention they have the most beautiful gym/pool/sauna facilities I’ve ever seen at a hotel.

This place is gorgeous. The service and hospitality is better than any hotel I have stayed at. The rooms are large and luxurious. The bed is incredibly comfortable. They greeted us with personalized notes for each family member.. welcome trays with food/fruit and snacks. The hotel driver will take you anywhere nearby and they picked us up at the train station in a range rover. This is a five star hotel in every way.. Whole family loves it. I hope to return.

While this review will sound like a paid promo of the property, our experience this past weekend certainly warrants an outstanding review. We chose the Muir for its luxury and location, which was perfectly situated on the waterfront and gave us stunning harbour views while being next to numerous stellar restaurants, pubs, tours and the ferry service. In the hotel itself is BKS (Best Kept Secret), the hotel’s hidden speakeasy. Rick, who greeted us when we used the secret entry knock, offered outstanding service, some great conversation and many tips on things to do in the area. BKS has a fun drink menu as well as some delicious appetizers. The smoked salmon should not be missed. That level of service greeted us even prior to our arrival by asking how the hotel could make our stay more memorable through the moment of our actual arrival. The hotel staff’s service was impeccable, clearly hired for their excellence in customer service. We were greeted by one of the many welcoming doormen, then by a professional, warm and efficient front desk team, one who walked us to our room and showed us the many impressive features, such as the powered sheers and powered drapes, the automatic nightlights in the bathroom, the keypad controls for the lights and drapes, and the many small touches that make for elegant luxury. Our room was clean, warm and well appointed with high quality amenities. One thing that was very noticeable was never seeing a housekeeping cart in the hall during our three-night stay.Every single staff member we encountered was welcoming, friendly, helpful and engaging. Yet another example of great customer service: we came back to the hotel as it started pouring rain and the doorman with a beautiful smile said “you two need umbrellas?” Yes we did.As a nice touch, the hotel offers bikes and a luxury vehicle that will take you within a 2km radius so guests can experience the many dining experiences and sights nearby. We gratefully took advantage of this service. We will not hesitate to stay and this wonderful property on our next visit to Halifax and would recommend it to those seeking luxury, comfort and outstanding service.

Stayed here in the spring. Paid a lot but thought it would be worth it based on other reviews and its location. It is also a Marriott Autograph Hotel so it made sense as a Bonvoy member.First the positives ...1) The location is great near all points of interest which are very walkable.2) The hotel is very nice aesthetically and is well-kept.Cons (unfortunately too many) ...1) There is NO recognition of Bonvoy Elite benefits. My request for late-checkout was denied. This was based on availability" although the app showed many rooms available.2) The biggest snub was their refusal to honour the Marriott breakfast perk for Platinum and higher guests which is a GUARANTEED benefit. I have never had a hotel say they don't have to honour this benefit (which is a lie) in the many years I have been a Bonvoy elite. They claim it is because the restaurant is "third party" owned

Stayed here with my family and got 3 rooms. They moved things around so we can all be in the same floor. Very accommodating. The rooms are super clean and housekeeping did a very good job. We had breakfast at the hotel every day because if it was convenient, the food was delicious, the staff are great, and the ambiance is beautiful. The hotel also has a few restaurant conveniently located in the same building. We tried most of them and very happy with the food and services. The gym is pretty big and have all the equipment one needs when traveling. The pool and saunas are really nice but a bit crowded. I don't know if they are guests of the hotel or members of the gym. I wish it was a little bit more exclusive. Also like to thank the guys at the door who always greeted us with a smile. It really makes a difference when you see a happy friendly face when going in to a place. We also love the location being close to the boardwalk, other restaurants and points of interests.
