Grotto of Our Lady of Lourdes

Great views from the grotto. The building is attractive and well kept sitting higher up in Fraser River Heritage Park in Mission. It has been a site of pilgrimage.

A very beautiful and restful place to give time to ourselves to the Blessed Virgin Mary. A water fountain providing holy water to drink and a wonderful view of the Fraser River giving you a feeling that Mother Mary is with you

The park is perfect for walking. The view is mesmerizing.

In this times of atheism and Godless society, this grotto of Mama Mary is a beacon on a hill.

The original Grotto was built over a hundred years ago, and was site of an annual pilgrimage, until it was taken down for safety reasons. The current building is a re-creation, built by the local Knights of Columbus, who collected and measured pieces of the molding and doorway, and had new architetural drawings made. For a couple of decades, the annual pilgrimage was a huge event - groups coming by bus from all over the lower mainland and Washington state - lots of families, dozens of languages spoken and ethnic groups sharing food and faith. It was held in August, not sure if it will happen in 2022. Always a peaceful location, great view over the Fraser River and valley to the south. Path is a bit steep.
