My 7-year-old son had a great experience with Kelly. He was able to kick independently and slide a bit on the first session but the result on the last session was amazing. We had only 6 sessions of private swimming class with her and she helped him be able to swim independently the length of the exercise pool two times in a row. I just told her our goal for private class the first time I saw her and my son nailed it with her help and encouragement. We had also classes with Curtis, Emma and Shakiba for my little son. They are very kind and nice and my little son loves them so much. The other staff are super friendly and nice too.Karen Magnussen has a wave pool, an exercise pool and a hot tub that makes it appropriate for kids classes and adult walking. There is no lane swim.My 5-year-old son had a very friendly, enthusiastic coach, Daphne, that helped him enjoy his class more.

We took baby for a swim on the weekend and I’m very disappointed. This pool was highly recommended by other mamas in the area. It’s a very small pool for this community and in need of remodelling and expansion to meet the demand. It’s for young children who don’t mind crowds. If you’re an adult wanting to relax this isn’t the place for you. It does have some nice features like a spray water area for infants and a hot tub that is kid friendly. However, we found it over crowded and in need of a serious deep clean. I would recommend city centre aquatic centre in Coquitlam for a bigger wave pool or watermania in Richmond.

Wave pool was enjoyable. Online pool information/description can be better with a monthly schedule. Facility can use some updates and better care/maintenance.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with NVRC at Karen Magnusunn. For the past few weeks, I’m struggling to encourage my daughter to deal with her fears. She was scared of ice skating. And last term, with the great instructors’ strategy (Vivienne and Kaden coaches), she started to enjoy being on the ice. Unfortunately, this term, a different instructor’s approach at Karen Mugnessun makes her feel upset, and doesn’t want to come back for her lesson. A few weeks ago, I reported the situation to the supervisor at Karen Magnussen and told him that my main goal is for my daughter to enjoy herself being on the ice, and it would be ok if she stays at the same level 10 times. Today, the supervisor told me that she is not punctual and does not behave appropriately toward the instructor. He said her behavior it's not acceptable. My daughter was thirsty and requested to go to drink water. The instructor didn’t let her go. Unfortunately, she told him she asked her sister to punch him. I asked her (the 7-year-old kid) why she had an inappropriate manner. She responded that she feels “so sad” about the instructors’ attitude to keep telling her to listen to them. She told me that “Mommy, I try my best. I am listening to them but it seems that I’M NOT GOOD ENOUGH”. It breaks my heart to see how my child is disappointed in her strength. As a single mom, it is a huge challenge to encourage the kids to be strong and feel valuable. I hope one day, we all work hard together to have a healthier community for the children.
