Public Boat Launch
This is one of the best public boat launches I've ever used. It's paved and is deep enough that my boat floats off the trailer easily. There is a little dock beside the launch to tie up at while you're moving the car. There is also substantial parking. I've heard it can be quite busy in the summer but when I went there was no one else there. There are 0 fees to use this launch. It is not very well marked though, if you are driving down North Shore Road from the town of Cowichan Lake you'll see it on your left after you've passed the lot entrance. There's no signage at the entrance itself to indicate what it is.

We met our fly fishing guide here Vancouver Island Fly Fishing here and had a blast! Headed through the locks and down the River for a full day float fly fishing trip. They had waders, boats, rods and all the flies and even had coolers with drinks and sandwiches for the lunch break. Caught about 70 fish between 8 of us and of course sent them right back into the river. Beautiful and successful day for sure. I’d love to go back there anytime:

Moderately busy on nice days with adequate trailer parking most times. You can also park on the street for free and launching your boat is free. There is a new concrete ramp installed and a nice dock to assist in loading and unloading.
