Shafali Indian Restaurant
Yummy comfort food. Very speedy service. And just the right spice. I had the chicken curry and it comes with rice and salad. The portions were very generous. I also ordered a naan on the side and it was amazing. I could see the owner put it right in the oven and it was still hot when it was brought to the table. Delicious!

So DisappointingHaving being enjoying Indian food since 1972 ! this was the 3rd Indian Restaurant we tried in Ottawa - and the only time I have ever scored less than a 4.The starter was for 3 ' $24. It was very dry and we got half a Pakora each (they are upside down in photo but its just a half) which is a shame as this was the best of the bunch !We then ordered Lamb Madras, Chicken Jalfrezi and Butter Chicken. The Butter chicken was the worst and had a distinct taste of Vinegar - maybe the gee was old or there was an old dish mixed in - we couldn't quite work it out. The Madras and Jalfrezi were just very artificial tasting so we didn't eat them. The after taste was not pleasant. The chicken biriyani was OK and we ate that - and the Naan and Roti were fresh and so we also filled up on that. Despite saying at the beginning of the evening that we over order" to take home. The waiter didn't comment when he took full curries away and we told him we didn't want to take them ! But to be fair he was pretty uninterested all evening and I once had to get up to remind him about drinks. There was at its busiest only 7 including us and sadly now I know why. Having read reviews and the wonderful history of this restaurant - it gives us no pleasure posting this review - but maybe the owners can correct before the Dalhousie restaurant is even quieter than it was last night (Saturday 17th December)"

Shafali Indian Restaurant
My wife and I had an early dinner while visiting Ottawa for the first time. Food was outstanding. Probably the best naan I’ve ever had. The chicken tikka masala was fabulous. My wife loved her aloo ghobi. Our server, Aditya, was charming and helpful. We’re so glad we decided to eat here!

I've been here before (several years ago) and really enjoyed it (which is why I gave an extra star), but the butter chicken I had delivered today was not good. I have never had butter chicken I didn't enjoy, but this time it was very watery tasting. It barely had any flavor or smell, and I was very disappointed.

Slow service. Food is not good and is expensive. We ordered Veg and Chicken Biryani and they served us Pulav. It was basically the rice and the frozen mix veggies packet like peas, corn, beans that we get from Walmart. Chicken Biryani was rice, corn and chicken. That's it. There was no veggies that should be in a Biryani. The tea that we ordered was almost water.100% dissatisfied

Went for dinner. I had chicken Tikka Masada, cheese Naan and mango lashi. The food was okay. Just a little off for me. I do not know if I would recommend it knowing there are other tastier options out there. The service was top notch. The young man was very attentive and very kind. I loved the atmosphere.

The sign hanging outside Shafali may not look like much, but the food is super-tasty. Had the chicken tikka wrap and veggie samosas. Highly-recommend!

This was very disappointing. The vegetarian for two" appetizer didn't even have two pakoras in it... it had one golf ball sized piece cut in half. Each fried piece was overdone. The curries were watery. I do not recommend."

The food was so great, love the spices and the naan!Can I say 4.5/5? There is nothing wrong with the food but compared to other, some restuarants have bigger portion than this one and the price is almost the same ☺
