Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House
Service was friendly and the waiters were accommodating. There was something for everyone, including hot chocolate. Great flavour and nice portions. Happy hour wine couldn't be beat at $1 an ounce... I definitely recommend Joe Fortes for lunch, happy hour and dinner.

4.5 stars! Food was superb and the fish was very fresh. Portion size was massive, which is great considering the price. The staff were helpful and offered to go through the menu with us. They kept refilling our water even though it was super busy, which is a great touch as sometimes restaurants forget this. Would definitely return here to bring friends and family.

Had a lovely birthday brunch here with my husband! We didn’t realize Saturdays was brunch only… but still food was still great! They were very accommodating to my dietary needs. Heidi our sever was outstanding. So kind and accommodating. She even brought us an extra dessert for my birthday with a cute custom chocolate! Very impressed by the service :)

We went here last night because Joe’s was recommended a lot on a social platform. Wade (if I didn’t remember his name wrong) was the one served me and my husband, he was really professional, nice and funny. He recommended us taking Cajun crab & corn from happy hour menu as it might be too much for 2 of us taking 4 dishes. Food is delicious and I would really recommend all these 4 and halibut cheeks as seasonal option. Thanks again Wade, you really made us the day!

A fancy restaurant with fresh seafood and excellent service! It’s my first time to try oysters and the staff gave me great suggestions. Seafood is fresh and delicious, and lively vibe with piano music. It’s located in the heart of downtown, won’t be regret to come back!

By far the best Happy Hour Menu in Downtown! I would recommend going here if you are in the area. The seafood tower for the price is enough for 2 people. The beef carpaccio was so good! Service was quick, and our server was nice. I highly suggest you book ahead if you want to try their Happy Hour without waiting in line.

We came for happy hour on a Wednesday and was seated promptly. The service was really friendly and fast.We ordered the mini lobster shrimp rolls, a couple oysters, truffle fries and fritters. I would say their portions are okay for the price. As happy hours go, their menu is okay large (not the biggest but also not the smallest). I've been coming here for happy hour since 2011 and the quality has always remained consistent. The menu has changed a lot over the years but overall still not a bad option for happy hour.The mini lobster shrimp rolls were indeed very mini. Probably the size of my palm. The bun was really soft but not so soft that it broke. There was definitely more shrimp than lobster (which is to be expected) and I couldn't really taste the flavour of either distinctly. I would skip the mini lobster shrimp rolls.The truffle fries were pretty delicious and addictive. We finished every single fry. It tasted a bit over fried and oily but I like that they maintained the fluffiness of the potato inside. The truffle flavour was also not very prominent but still not badThe crab and corn fritters were crunchy. I could definitely taste the corn and crab. Not very memorable in terms of taste. Would not order again.Overall I would recommend getting the truffle fries and oysters. Maybe try the calamari (the table next to us ordered it and it looked good) and tempura shrimp instead of the items I got. I will note that I did like how friendly the server was and she didn't pressure us to order or leave when we were done. The decor has remained the same for a long time. I wish they would bring back the lobster oil and bread for happy hour because that used to be one of my favourites.

Joe Fortes Seafood & Chop House
The rooftop bar here is excellent. The bartenders provided tremendous service and made a delicious Caesar cocktail. The fried oysters were terrific. My only gripe was whoever was outside (looked to be dressed like a manager) had an off-putting attitude towards us when we were visiting, making us feel not welcomed at first. Other than that, everything else was great.
