Their cream buns are amazing. They are soft, fluffy, and the cream is delicious without being overly sweet. My favourites are the whipped cream and seasonal buns.It may not be for everyone since the flavour is mild but the quality of the ingredients makes it worth a try.

Visited this place at 7pm and it seems like I had the leftover buns that was sitting in their display fridge for at least the entire day so it was not the yummiest. I had the custard and matcha bun but I don’t think I would try it again..

Overall experience was pleasant. The store has a warm and cultural vibe with all the Japanese deco and package.Quality: the desserts are very nice in texture, especially the caramel pudding. It’s flawless smooth and creamy.Price: Its not a regular, affordable price for such a small quantity of food. However I have the idea why its not as low as other stores. Hattendo focuses a lot in packaging and marketing products, plus it is located at the China town, its reasonable. As someone already suggested, if you never try here, go ahead (I recommend the caramel pudding), but for me, it will be very long til I come back here again

Scrumptious sandos! Just on the pricier end. There was quite limited selection when I visited (~12pm) so may need to come earlier (or later?). We wanted to try the ebi fry and chicken nanban which was out of stock in the display. Thankfully the workers had 1 of each left in the back. Also love the omikuji area!!

the Baldwin village would not be itself without Hattendo's presencea consistently reliable place for cream buns and has been since I started visiting 4 years ago. they're not the most affordable dessert in the city, but you pay for the premium ingredients used and it's worth it. they're an excellent gift to bring to dinner or to cheer up a friend who's been having a bad day.there's no seating inside, but there's plenty of seating outside and it's super near to grange park so don't take the lack of seating as a sign that it's not a great dessert place.the cream buns are delicious, and the perfect sweet bite - and i love that they have a seasonal rotation of flavours to try. my favourites are the custard, matcha, and the early grey (seasonal) flavoursyes, hattendo may not be your traditional cafe, but don't let that hinder you from visiting one of the best dessert places in the city

I was excited to check out this establishment; however, the experience was underwhelming. The storefront had a sad appearance, with tiles falling off. There were no tables inside or outside. The service was unwelcoming, making me feel like I was disturbing the server by giving her my business. It was very unusual for a Japanese store. The cream buns were alright, but overall, the place had so much potential that I hope will be realized in the future. Until then, I will not be returning for more.

Cute little shop nestled along a nice stretch of secluded street. Clean premises, polite staff, nice decor and neat packaging. Unfortunately the goodness stops here. The chilled buns are nothing to shout about, expensive $3.69 (regular) and $4.19 (crispy melon) + tax for one smalish bun. You probably could get similar kind of buns for 1/4 of the price at any asian bakeries ard nearby Chinatown. Bought one matcha melon bun and one regular custard cream bun. Im never a big fan of sweet dessert but the matcha filling is not sweet at all, not even a tinge of sweetness as if they forgot to add in any sugar! The custard cream is also just mediocre pastry cream lightened with whipped cream. The buns did not taste premium at all. First time here today and will be my last too. If u hv never tried it, I would say go ahead just get one bun for IG or FB but definitely not worth a repeat visit.

Tiny cream buns for $4+ each. I got the seasonal special white peach flavor and while it wasn't bad, I don't see how it's worth the price tag. The bun wasn't as fluffy as I expected. Honestly I could get better buns at the many bakeries in nearby Chinatown. The omikuji area was also empty... A shame because it would have made the experience a bit more interesting.

I love their monthly specials. The bun is super soft. Our kids love it too!
