The Polite Pooch

I'd love to give Andrea 10 stars! I've boarded my dog twice with Andrea. It's such excellent care and adds to any getaway knowing your dog is in the BEST hands. She even sends photos of your dog having the time of their life! Andrea is so caring and knowledgable and a complete dog whisperer. I have been struggling walking my 80lb goldendoodle. He is the sweetest and amazing off leash, but on leash has been pretty uncomfortable despite trying what a previous trainer recommended and then a buzz collar out of desperation. Andrea had a collar recommendation and tried it on my dog while we were away. In a short lesson she was able to show me her technique and I am blown away by the night and day difference to walking my dog. I can't tell you how excited I am for my leash walks now thanks to Andrea! She truly is the BEST!

I could not say enough about Andrea and The Polite Pooch. We boarded our 2 year old Border Collie at The Polite Pooch for 10 nights while we went away on vacation and Andrea made Islas stay feel like home away from home. Upon meeting Andrea and viewing her beautiful and clean home, my family knew Isla would be in the perfect place. Andrea regularly provided pupdates" and photos and took the dogs on walks through the forest which is one of Islas favourite things to do. Isla will definitely be coming back next vacation :)"

Andrea came over to our house and met with us and our 1 yr old Sheepadoodle Basil, worked with all of us and Basil has responded quitePositively in just a matter of days. I think we needed the training as much as he did. She was a pleasure to deal with and we look forward to more training in the spring.

Andrea did a great job helping us with our recently adopted 2 year old Westie . Her love for animals shines through and her enthusiasm is contagious .

We have hired Andrea twice for our now 6 month old puppy. Once, right at the beginning to help us curb those new puppy gripes like biting and jumping up, and next at the 6 month mark for walk training. Walking our puppy before was a trial and not even slightly enjoyable, and within a day of Andrea's board and train service, our car and butterfly chasing dog was walking nicely at our side. People comment on how calm she seems for her age. That compliment goes out to Andrea. It is so worth the investment to have a pleasant, obedient dog.Andrea jokes that she really is training us humans, and that's really what she does. She armed us with the tools and techniques we needed and she is so responsive to troubleshoot any issues we may have. Andrea is truly skilled at what she does. Thank you for helping us to raise a polite pooch, Andrea!

Andrea is amazing! She is knowledgable, compassionate, and all around fabulous. She provides common sense information and is able to make breed-specific recommendations. She meets you where you and your dog are at and provides just the right level of information/support for whatever stage that is. She provides tailored information and not just a laundry list of tips and tricks. She explains the psychology around behaviours and works with the dog as opposed to against it. Just fabulous!

Andrea came to our house to help our family get on the right track with our new puppy. We knew we had already unwittingly trained some bad behaviours into him but did not know how to fix the problems. She did a thorough analysis of our challenges, explained her approach to training and then gave us strategies to correct some of the issues we were having. She was great with communicating with our kids so we are all working together with our dog. Already, our puppy is easier to be with. Most of all, we’re all happier together.

Andrea was absolutely amazing with our new 9week old puppy. She made not only my pup but the whole family feel so comfortable. She was very informative and attentive. She is truly passionate about her work and her genuine love for dogs. She was so patient with us and answered all our questions and concerns. We will definitely follow her techniques as our dog picked up on them so quickly. I would highly recommend Andrea. Thank you so much for all that you taught us and our pup Cali. We will for sure be using her services in the future again :)

In addition to being a kind and patient human being, Andrea is knowledgeable and demonstrates that your dog can indeed learn to do what you are asking of it. She takes the time needed to teach dog owners how to be a leader so that your dog knows its place in the pack. Andrea is just amazing!! We are so grateful to have found someone who takes such good care of our Lexi while we are away. She always is so kind to send updates and photos of Lexi’s stay and is so wonderful with her. Lexi is a very high energy pointer pup and Andrea understands all breeds needs and has patience with her and has been so kind to provide training advice for situations that we can now resolve. We are always sure that Lexi is well taken care of and exercised. On our first visit to drop Lexi off, Andrea makes the dogs feel right at home. Her facility is super clean and the setup is wonderful. She makes sure your dog is socializing and having fun. Always a piece of mind. You can be guaranteed your pup will have the best time.
