Matahari Grill
This is our first time trying out this restaurant although it’s been around for a long time. I’m glad we did, we may have just found our new date night spot. We love the Calamari Matahari and the Tofu Goreng. We ordered so many dishes because we both love Indonesian food. The Green Beans Sambal with prawns and Mee Goreng were very good too. The Rendang is so tender and melts in your mouth, but could use a bit more spice and salt. This restaurant is probably more Malay than it is Indonesian, but either way, we enjoyed it. The service by Eduardo was great and we felt very welcomed. We’ll definitely be back again!

Came here for lunch with a group of 8 coworkers. Clean and open place. The service was very prompt and the food was good. It's pretty busy for lunches with the University Ave crowd but they take resos. Everyone seemed pleased with their meals. I ordered the mango chicken which came with a side of rice. The veggies and mango were fresh and not over done and there was quite a bit of chicken in it too. It's a definitely a good work-lunch option and more upscale than say Swiss chalet for little bit more money.

This place is great! We don't get to go there as often as we like anymore, but when we are able to, we make time to get there. It's a great place to go to with friends and they have accommodated large groups (10) without a problem. Service has been fantastic every time, but that's not the main reason we go back there, no, the main reason: the food is super tasty! Everyone seems to love the Rendang Beef and I think they have the best Satay in town! Love it!

We came here for dinner last night looking for some Southeast Asian cuisine. The dining area was mostly full with what looked to be a dinner party. The service was very rushed. Our waiter (the only waiter) barely spoke two sentences to us the entire meal. The food was nothing special. At the price of the entrees, you would expect there to be more flavor and care put into the dishes. The food was bland and I am pretty sure the vegetables used in our meals were frozen. The spring rolls were tiny and also frozen. The menu looks promising but the food is not worth the price.

We came here for Summerliciois. I ordered the papaya salad, the curry and the fried bananas. Overall the meal was OK: the salad didn't have any exciting flavours, the curry was good but nothing exciting and the fried banana was not what I expected based on the description. I would give this restaurant a second chance and not order from Summerliciois because it wasn't great value. The other patrons around us didn't seem to order from this menu and their food looked much more tasty.

A really good dining experience overall. Actually the best I have had for awhile.The place is nice with just right ambience. Dim lighting and light music goes well with good feed that they served.

Asked for a entree recommendation. Waitress recommended dish that was almost double the price of all my friends dishes & didn't taste half as good. They also threw in a bowl of rice which I thought must have came with the meal since, I didn't order it. Then, found out they charged for it separately. Subtle ways to increase the bill but, definitely not in the best interest of patrons. Actual serving of the food needs to me improved. Kept hitting people's shoulders & arms while serving. No point to visit again.

Apparently there are different cooks in the day and different at night. We went once during the day and the food was amazing. Some of the best Malaysian food I have tasted in a long time. After a month or so I decided to take my wife for dinner and ordered the same dishes and the taste was nothing like Malaysian food. Complete disappoinment and when I told the waiter he gave me the different cooks explanation.

This was my second visit to this wonderful Malaysian spot downtown. I had the seafood curry which was perfectly flavoured and spicy. My other 3 colleagues also had wonderful meals. The servings are generous and the price just right. Will definitely recommend and return soon.

Was hoping to get some authentic southeast Asian food in Toronto, but I was disappointed to see how they fail cooked the most basic dish in Malaysia. The Nasi Lemak had no chicken and the sambal sauce is not good. The Nasi Lemak was very overpriced.
