Sadly, they are so good at what they do. It is just sad that they have to do it. I went through a course of treatment there and my wife is doing it now. They are a wonderful group of healers.

It's a beautiful new building, with wonderful, caring oncologists and support staff. The only complaint I have is the paid parking - as a cancer patient, I don't need to be worried if my meter has run out, or most patients are on a very tight budget by the time they are going through treatment.

Dr. Gagnon and the care givers at the Victoria Cancer Clinic made my recent chemotherapy treatments a very positive experience. I couldn’t have asked for more. They are truly amazing and I will never forget your tenderness, love and care.

I am a Breast Cancer Patient - stage III. Warning - do your own research. BC Cancer Agency did not provide me with information about the nature of the disease, nor was there adequate explanation about my cancer. Everyone is give neoadjuvant chemotherapy regardless if the therapy will work for you. No individualized treatment plan. There is no monitoring if treatment is effective and essentially exposing patient to harmful chemo drugs unnecessarily and wasting tax payers dollars. No access to standardized testing for diagnosis and treatment monitoring such as PET/CT scan. No consultation with a plastic surgeon. No case management of patient if living outside of Victoria. There is no follow up.Oncologist is too busy and rushed to provide basic care. If I complain it is put in my record and every other doctor that I work with and support staff wants to talk with me about the complaint and defend the Agency's position. The BC Cancer Agency is the only place to get treated - you can not get a second opinion as there is no where else publicly funded. If I had insurance I'd get treated down in the states. I am sure that the BC Cancer Agency's policies on treatment negatively impacted my prognosis. I hope I don't ever have to come back to this place for treatment.

Pray you never have to use this place, but if you do be prepared for a bumpy ride. There is very little coordination and things get missed often. You will have a cancer care team they call it. All that means is everyone plays hot potato and no one takes accountability. You'll hardly ever see the same nurse twice, the information they asked you about last time won't be in your file. Doctors will forget to put orders in, send you for tests/care in the main hospital (not BC Cancer), and those staff will not have received word, and don't know what to do with you. Trying to get prescriptions filled is like herding cats. There are labour shortages everywhere. It really sucks to see it in a life saving situation.

Very dismissive and frightening interaction with my radiation oncologist who did not provide any guidance with my post surgical pain. Many months later I'm finally receiving compassionate treatment, but not from Cancer Agency

The people at this place are genuinely the largest group of quality and caring people I have experienced in a long time. To a person, I was impressed every time with the respect and dignity that seemed to be offered on every occasion we needed to visit.

Chemotherapy and Radiation sessions were on time and even if I had to wait my turn that would have been fine by me. The oncologists were never on time and by them being unacceptably late it would cut into my time which would result in me not being able to ask the necessary questions. The consults were rushed and I questioned why I even bothered to go to my appointments. I had to wait months and months to get copies of my reports which I have the legal right to. The administrators were not eager to resolve conflicts and would ignore any requests for a meeting. Stand up for your rights and do not allow medical personnel to bully you or to treat you with disrespect. I hope I never have to deal with this agency again. Also remember we do not get anything for free. Our tax dollars and MSP premiums pay for the services that we get. I am thankful to this agency however there is much room for improvement.

I finished my treatment here almost 10 years ago and I have zero plans on ever returning - thank you Dr. Wai!
