Canadian Stage (High Park Amphitheatre)
We enjoyed the acting and setting. The play was a quirky take on Shakespeare's.Twilight in a forested area with crickets chirping and eventually stars twinkling was fun. Now, the seating... It's non-existent. Many folks brought blankets and cushions, but being new to the experience we didn't. I found the ground space provided to sit down on was a little constrained being a fairly tall person. Sitting for the duration of the play cross-legged was a new experience. Getting back up again was rough though. We arrived 25 minutes early, to find the vast majority of the rows filled already. Many folks brought food in with them and had come much earlier than us.Enjoy this adventure, but be aware and come prepared!

Having lived in the area for 5 years, this was one of those experience that we really wanted to try. We reserved a month in advance online at the Canadian stage website. $25 per ticket gets you reserved seats which are close to the stage in the center so you have the best view in the house. The seating is just cushions so bring a blanket. It's a bit crammed and you can't really stretch out your legs. Lots of people bring food and snacks, but they also sell some snacks there. We arrived around 7:10pm for an 8pm show. The entrance is right across from the high park restaurant. The performance itself was good, we watched Romeo and Juliet. This is a modern take on the play, but still in old English. Minimal costumes and decor. The actors did a really good job!Overall an interesting experience and we might do it again next summer when new plays come out.

Great little theatre for a night out with some Shakespeare. The lighting and stage are really nice but when it's packed comfortable seating can be a rarity, come early. Bring bug spray and a blanket or chair.

I love this! We went to see A midsummer night's dream and the actors are amazing. We came early, right when the gates opened. Dropped the pay-what-you-can" fee

It's a very unique venue to watch shows. Got the chance to see Dan Mangan perform here. Seating is a bit uncomfortable as it's lawn seating and everyone attending the show was crammed together making it hard to adjust oneself without encroaching on other people's space. It's outdoors so be prepared to experience the elements (ie, insects, weather, sound of overhead planes, etc).

A beautiful quiet place nestled in the heart of High Park. The Canadian Stage is a wonderful place where all amazing performances take place, including the one on 2nd July 2022, by the group Kune. The venue overall is a lovely place and a great choice for any artist to perform.

The most beautiful theatre in the city. The audience feels so alive here. All the time. Regardless of the production. You feel like maybe you are a part of something after all.
