They have been my GP/family doctor since I moved to Canada over a decade ago. Their attention to detail and compassion has being amazing.Note, they are clearly understaff. Wait times for appointments and even phone answering can be long times. I understand because is not their fault. Their service is focus in non Caucasian folks. If you are caucasian, just go to another health center, the city has many.

this place is ran by Maniacs, and they do not want you to ask questions or concerns. when you join them , they force you to abandon your family physician and also force you to adopt them as your sole health service providers and yet there are other services they cannot provide such as health assessments to proof a diagnosis for various intention such as training placements. One Dr. Jewell is very inhuman and would force you into tests like pap smear and HIV tests without having a discussion or asking your consent or opinion. Just because we are new in the country and black skinned does not mean we do not have rights like them. They take advantage of new and vulnerable woman, and treat people like slaves. Then there is Symone the social worker , she is very hurtless and merciless, and as a member you must see her before you book any appointments, especially if you missed a previous appointment. I went to see her for housing issue and she asked me to fill a form and when i did i filled the part that says i am homeless, its like i stepped on her sore big toe. She lashed at me saying that i was in a rented house and even though i was facing some unhealthy conditions in that place, i was not a homeless situation , she made a huge case out it and made sure that my membership was terminated. I thank Symone the social worker very much because i would not have made any positive progress with them. Contrary to organization's name, Woman health in women hands" they do not subscribe to Canada's human rights charter. Its should instead be called the vulnerable women's' health in oppressors hands. The place looks creepy and some tests are requested

I’ve tried twice to register for primary healthcare services. When I initially went and filled out all the required information I was told there is a long waitlist due to priority (pregnant women, patients with stds etc.) but I should for sure hear a call back in about 3 months. After a little over 3 months had passed and I heard nothing back so I called to inquire about how far I was on the waist list and the receptionist said there was nothing with my information on file and to re register. It was extremely upsetting but I understand there’s a long wait and mistakes happen so I re applied. Was told the same thing again. This time 6 months went by I had received no call so again I called for an update and again my information was not in their system as if I never applied. Completely aggravating as I really need a primary healthcare physician as a black / indigenous Latin woman with medical issues where I wanted to go somewhere I could feel safe a space for woman this was extremely upsetting and a waste of my time.

I have been a patient/client at WHIWH for over 15 years and don’t know where I would be without them. The staff, including nurse practitioners, physicians, social workers, and therapists are very knowledgeable and accommodating.. It’s a great safe space for people of colour and they offer many services to help marginalized communities.

** TLDR: Don’t waste your time here. **I became a client in February 2021 after 2 years on the wait list. Advised the NP of my medical concerns at the intake appointments (initial & then in person after). She confirmed WHIWH have specialists that can help. Cool. I provided paperwork for her review & she took scanned everything for WHIWH’s records. I also filled out the necessary paperwork in office for a family doctor transfer.Special note: I was asked to redo lab work that would not be physically possible due to a condition. I brought this up & nothing.March ‘21: A month later the NP calls asking for info originally provided in February.April ‘21: NP calls again because she did not scan/save specific medical records properly, & asks for me to provide the documentation again.May ‘21: Health Connect advised I still need a family doctor…. confirming the transfer to WHIWH was never done.…September ‘21: Called for mental health support twice, left messages, one of the issues addressed in February. The referral (February) was never provided despite my confirming previous mental health diagnosis & increasing suicidal ideation. No one calls back.October ‘21: Called to update my records. Receptionist was lost, pretended to update my info.I called again about a week later to see about another appointment (re: no follow ups since February despite necessary referrals being promised). Reception couldn’t find me. Previous person did not update my file, didn’t leave a note. This receptionist says she’ll talk to a superior & get it done. Fine.I book an appointment for the NP for the following week. 10 minutes later, WHIWH calls back apologetic — she’s double booked me. NP is unavailable for another two weeks. I appreciate her honesty about the error, but at this point its I’m fed up with the overall lack of professionalism.- The mental health coordinator calls back (message left in early September) leaves a message says there’s availability, call for an appointment. Cool. I call back, discuss & book.- October 29: surprise, no one calls. I call the comic & was told the person must’ve forgot, they’ll call shortly. No one ever called.I’m tired. I’m just trying to get help. I don’t rx this place unless you’re desperate & even then as a last resort. I’m currently between a rock & a hard pace & honestly not sure where to turn.Suggestions are welcome, but I’m ready to jump in front of a train.

I find Dr. Saunders dismissive of my concerns even for the smallest request and on a power relationship towards me. I am happy to say that I found a walk-in clinic Dr. whom is attentive to my needs, nothing is too much trouble and treats me as a human being. I do see her regularly. I definitely would not recommend Dr. Saunders.

They had good doctors and resources. From a good doctor they put me to a nurse practitioner and now to a student, it took me a year to get and appointment because they never answer the phone.

You have no idea how grateful I am to the staff here. I have not met any person that isn't awesome at what they do. Shout out particularly to: Dr O'Brecht, Dr. Munchie, Joëlle, Kalli and Sam for all your support and encouragement, for helping me to stay grounded while I walk this journey with my kids and without my eternal love. God has surrounded me with the best.

my doc is wonderful but reception is terrible. it's hard to make timely appts, the phone is rarely answered the first few times you call, and messages left on the general mailbox are never answered. even when they say they will call you back/the call is interrupted, there is no call back.

ETA call #2: I contacted them again and they said because I'm not a priority race it will be longer for me to get seen (she said people who are not caucasian get the priority service). Apparently women's health is only needed by others whose race I do not share. I have the same reproductive system as any other race, but it looks like mine doesn't matter.Impossible to get through to anybody. I tried calling multiple times with no answer. Now in order to receive healthcare I need to fill out a long form, even though womens care is part of general Healthcare. Why are we treated differently for having certain body parts? This is ridiculous, I don't own a printer and am not allowed to email it.Thank you for being so inconvenient that I'm not going to bother.
