There’s too many good things to say about this place! I’ve been coming here ~2 years, and every aspect of this place has been top notch. The food is all very affordable, gourmet tasting (and looking), and served with a smile. Breakfast or lunch food, Mr. Varga has you covered! His involvement within the Peterborough community has brought many different people great plates of food and helped many different groups. We were even lucky enough to have Square Plates cater our rugby banquet.Could not recommend this place enough!

What a gem! We can tell the owner/chef/server really loves food. He is very creative with his specials - Southern Sandwich was chicken schnitzel with pulled pork, and soup of the day was smoked chicken, savoy cabbage and potatoes. Basics like traditional breakfast was well done. (Farmer's sausages are big and tasty.) Price is a steal!

Square Plates is a lovely family diner with incredible food at very competitive prices. Definitely a hidden gem in a residential area of Peterborough - well worth checking it out! The owner/chef takes incredible pride in his business and makes sure you will enjoy the food he makes for you. He tries his best to cater to any dietary needs you and goes above and beyond to make sure your changes are excellent. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and everything myself or my friends have tried has been excellent. Additionally, they hire people in the community with special needs which I think is such a wonderful thing for a local diner to do. The waitress is lovely - very pleasant and great at her job.Square Plates is my go to spot for a tasty breakfast in Peterborough - never disappointed by the service or the food.

The place needs a serious upgrade, I believe it never had a touch of change since it was open. The kitchen doesn't look clean, and the whole back corridor was in a mess. The chef (I believe the owner) has to work in his strained outfit, It was so dirty, he could use an apron, and he definitely needs to cover his hair at least with a mesh. The food was OK and cheap but cleannance bad and service under ok.

We didn't have time to take a photo because it smelled so good we got right into it! Gluten Free fish and chips were sooo good, will 100% be returning, and the Philly cheese steak sandwich was very good!! Thank you for gluten free options

Very happy with our lunch, fries are very good, club sandwich is very good. Real mayonnaise available on request. Free coffee refills. Small restaurant, with 30 or 40 seats.

Square Plates Family Restaurant
Exceptional food! It's a bold statement, but I may have had the MOST flavorful, delicious soup I have ever eaten today. Black beans, rich bacon and steak that tasted simmered in a rich merlot stock..This soup could have easily passed as a starter in a swanky fine dinning restaurant in Toronto! I can't wait to try the soup next time I'm there!!
