Mike responded very quickly to my request for a quote and within a week of my first contacting him, the work was completed! He is very professional and even did a bit more than I had asked for while he was on the job. I highly recommend Double Check Handyman and will hire him again in the future.

Mike is highly knowledgeable and resourceful. He can do an extremely wide variety of jobs. My sink was leaking and he came to the rescue! Fixed it fast and also replaced the water taps for me. Saved me thousands in possible water damage. Thanks Mike!

Mike is a true professional. I just purchased a new home and on the building inspection several small issues were highlighted for repair. I called Mike and within a week he was here to take care of all the repairs needed plus build new stairs from my deck. Mike is a handyman extraordinaire! Over the last few years, he has taken on a wide assortment of jobs for us. His knowledge of electrical, mechanical, plumbing, and carpentry issues is impressive. He is very analytical and innovative; he looks at a problem and sees the solution. He works fast, but carefully. You won't find a more honest, capable man to help you with your projects, big or small.

I normally don't do public reviews and after having this review written for about a week I decided to finally post it.When selecting someone to do work around my house I usually look for 4 things. Ability to meet my budget on the work I am having done, respecting their work and their clients by doing the desired job in a timely manner (no time wasting), leaving the place as great of a condition as when you came in and reputation.Unfortunately, I was very disappointed in 3 aspects on a renovation project that I contacted Mike for. It went 3 times over my budget even though I had bought 99% of the materials at the house. There were misunderstandings on his part even though I was here the whole time for him to ask me questions. In the end I ended up paying for his misunderstandings in his time and in material. Arriving late on both scheduled work days, packing up and leaving mid-workday for another job even though mine was not done and the re-setting his stuff a few days after. Attention to detail was lacking as, on the first inspection I saw right away a missing obvious aspect of the work (even screws were missing on door hinges and screws were all different). My place was complete disaster not only in the renovation area but all throughout the house which could have been very easily avoided with a 2$ plastic tarp which I even would have paid for to save the 5 hours of cleaning.Mike’s reviews online were great, which is why I went with him and which is why this experience was even more surprising. Although he is very pleasant to chat with, several estimates from family members who live elsewhere and who are carpenters said the project should take 3-5 hours. It ended up taking 11 hours. I don’t feel I was presented a honest quote when I contacted him the first time and never received a proper invoice for the work. He knew exactly the work he needed to perform when getting here and what tools to bring. I had even provided pictures in the weeks prior to him coming.I unfortunately can’t recommend Mike for renovation projects and will take this as a learning experience for me next time if I do have renovation projects to be done around the house.

We can't say enough about Mike and his work. He's excellent and has been so helpful. He put a dryer duct into our house (he literally crawled into the wall from the outside!) which didn't have one before — in one afternoon. We were so impressed. Very reasonable fee. Recently, we called him to see if he could help with repairing shower grout. The morning he arrives to do that job, our pipes froze. He said, oh, well we have to take care of that first. Not only does he track where the freeze is and unthaws it but finds that the house has gaps on one side of the foundation. He seals all of those up, checks the rest of the house and then does the grout. Along the way, he's educated us about dryer ducts, freezing pipes, grout so that we could make the best choices. I appreciate that. Mike not only does terrific, effective, and cost-effective work, he's very patient with our questions. Knowledgeable, effective, thorough assistance at a fair price.
