Marmora and Lake Inn B & B/The Baron on 7

Our evening out was based on Facebook and comments pertaining to the new B & B that was under new ownership. It was suggested that we ensure reservations to which we did and did not stay overnight.When we arrived there was a strong chlorine smell in the lobby, clearly from the indoor pool located off the entranceway. We were greeted within a few minutes and was given our pick of places to sit. I'm not sure why we were asked to make a reservation as there were only 2 other guests at the time and multiple empty tables. At no time was there any more then 3 tables occupied out of approx. 10.Unfortunately there was only a handful of items on the menu and the protein (butter chicken) was sold out leaving us with only paneer options and stew. We were told they could make us a Caesar salad but it was made with spinach leaves not romaine lettuce. We opted for 2 paneers and 4 samosa's (that were said to be hand made by the owner). They were tasty but clearly reheated and not fresh made for our meal.Our waitress, though extremely tentative spent a great deal of time socializing with us at our table to the detriment of our quiet dinner. At one point she indicated to us that the restaurant was starting out slowly to see where it would go" and only putting "very little on the menu" at this time. I am not a restauranteur by any means but first impressions are the most important and word of mouth is huge in achieving success one would think. I don't think this restaurant can afford to start out slowly to achieve its success.Given that we were seated close to the kitchen

If you want to feel you're in home, try this hotel . Even the manager is so kind and helpful, definitely will come back.

Michelle the hostess was absolutely lovely. The house is really pretty, with old world charm. They had a standard continental breakfast which was as expected. My room was a good size. I didn't like the shared bathroom, as it did not have a fan or ventilation. Although my room was spacious, the windows were sealed shut, and the fan was just ok. The part that I think everyone needs to be aware of, is the smell of chlorine! Yes as beautiful as the house is, the smell is present in the whole place. My room was on the top floor, and it still smelled of chlorine from the pool. I think the price to stay here is a bit steep due to the shared washroom/shower and constant chlorine smell. Aside from those two issues the potential for this place is really great, and again the service from Michelle was lovely.

Buyer beware!We booked this B & B in Feb 2022 for Sat July16 2022 so we could attend a wedding within walking distance from the location!Thursday July 14,2022 we were notified that our stay was cancelled due to another family booking in January and wanted the whole house as one of the people didn’t want others there as she was afraid of covid! The owner then proceeded to tell us she booked us in a motel on hwy 7, 4 klms away and that it has sone renovated rooms and we could have one and she would pay!We trusted her and agreed (against our wishes but we were stranded)! There are not many options in Marmora!On the 16th we drove to the motel and it was so run down that we would not even park our car in the driveway. It looked like something from a horror movie! I had read reviews about bedbugs etc and could not risk it.Also it was between 10 and 11 klms away not 4! Too far from a wedding that we had planned on walking to as we do not drink and drive!We called the owner of the B & B to tell her how disgusting it was and we won’t stay at it and hoped she got her money back!Now we were stuck to find a donut shop or somewhere to change into the clothes to attend the wedding!!!! We ended up at the Marmora information Centre where the lady allowed us to change! She also told us the same B & B did the same cancellation to them when they were going to celebrate a special wedding anniversary. (cancelled one night in advance). She also said DO NOT stay at the motel 10 klm away!We attended the wedding and left for our drive home to Oshawa rather then staying at our best friends daughters wedding!We had arranged for a house sitter and a cat sitter in our absence and that had to be paid for as well, regardless if we came home!How disappointing.Would never trust a booking with Michelle and her Marmora B & B ever again!!!Buyer beware!

We just visited the Inn for a overnight adventure with our 3 kids. We had a wonderful time and the host was very accommodating! We really loved the pool and being able to help ourselves to tea, coffee and pop! I would recommend this lnn for sure!The restaurant is set to open mid January 2023 we look forward to some international culinary experience!If you plan on visiting the pool, remember to bring some flip-flops!

We just visited the Inn and had an amazing time! The kids loved the pool and the complimentry breakfast was great. It was so nice to be able to help yourself to tea, coffee and pop whenever you wanted. The beds were comfortable and the host was very accommodating!

The family who owns it is very welcoming! The indoor pool is amazing!

Stayed for a night during the Soft opening" all that I can say is spot on. Michelle gave the perfect balance between professionalism

Be aware this property was sold May 1, 2021. There no longer is a restaurant nor is there a hot breakfast included with your room. Expedia and tripadvisor will not remove the previews owner’s reviews without the current owner’ authorization. Looks like the new owners are trying to ride on the reviews of the previous owners.
