I had a layover and an issue with my US passport and the ordeal was terrible, but I showed up at the consulate when they opened and they let me get an emergency passport same day and were so nice. I was panicked reading the reviews so felt inclined to review as I had a terrible airline, airport, immigration experience and the embassy was the only helpful part of the experience!!

Garda security people were nice. Security process is smooth. Provided locker for my phone. The interviewer were very nice and polite. Was in/out of the building within 45mins for my appointment. Quick and efficient service.

My experience: Everyone there was very nice and helpful. There are tiny lockers when you first go in so you can bring your phone to store there, and you can bring your small bag and document folder in the wait room. If you arrive early they most likely won't let you in until your appointment time, unless it is very empty inside the wait room. The process was quite smooth and quick for me. My appointment time was at 8:15 and I was called up to the window at about 8:30 and after presenting civil docs I was asked to sit and wait one more time. Then around 9 I was called up and the questioning only took about 10-15 minutes. Do note that once I was waiting the room filled up a lot and I'm sure everyone else had to wait longer. The consular officers who do immigration interviews are completely incompetent. The one I had, had to keep running to a supervisor to check with him to see if he was doing everything right. So to no surprise, my passport was held by these guys for 7 months, which kept me seperated from my family. The whole office could not be bothered to respond to emails within a week or sometimes two. The place needs a complete overhaul or at least minimum training so they don't keep good, honest people seperated from their families due to some incompetent consular officer.

Security are efficient and very friendly. The consulate staff was courteous and helpful. The wait time is a little excessive, but that's to be expected given the work being done.

We brought our four children in to renew their passports. We only had appointments for two because that is all that is offered online. We were hoping because we are all together they would help us out. The director was incredibly rude. She told us that we would need to leave our two young children (6 and 8 years old) outside by themselves because they weren’t allowed in the building without an appointment. Someone please tell me why a person that would suggest such an idiotic idea is in charge? The worst part was when my husband went upstairs with the two “appointment children” a different worker processing the applications asked if she could process all four children to save us the hassle, but the director would not accommodate at all. The director working today was by far the worst government worker we’ve ever come across.

While the consular officers are nice, the Garda security is not. Expect to wait outside on the sidewalk for at least an hour while they make room in the actual waiting room. You won't have your phone or anything else either.

My recent experience at the American Embassy was quite disappointing. Despite having an appointment, I was made to wait in the cold weather in front of the doors for a staggering 30 minutes before being allowed inside. The employees, with the exception of the embassy workers, were incredibly rude and unhelpful. Additionally, there was no specific appointment time given; instead, I had to wait in line and then further wait inside. It was disheartening to witness some individuals bypassing the wait and entering the consulate without any regard for those who had been patiently waiting. Overall, this was not a good experience, and improvements are needed to ensure better organization, efficiency, and courteousness from the embassy staff.* You aren’t allowed to bring any bag with you.

Excellent service from top to bottom. They were very helpful and took care of my 72 year old mother in law very well!They were very flexible and provided additional help to take the finger prints.The all interview process went very well! Excellent STAFF!!
