Calgary Taekwondo Academy

My son just had his 6th birthday party at the Calgary Taekwondo Academy. We were thrilled with how the party went. The instructors (3 of them) were amazing with the group of 15 kids. All the children had a blast. The activities they did were engaging, fast-paced and the kids were pumped about all the things they could try out and learn. It was awesome for parents as they did about 40 mins of instruction and then the kids had a break and ate the snack/cake/pizzas that I brought. Then they went back and did a fun circuit with the instructors for another 15 mins and then the parents picked up theirs kids right after that. The 1.5hr party was a blast and I got great feedback from the parents about how much their child loved the party! Highly recommend! Awesome instructors - super engaging with the kids! Huge win for our son’s birthday!

I have had the honor of knowing Master Lau and Master Kim since 1999 and highly recommend them and their programs at the Calgary Taekwondo Academy. Having trained with them first hand and witnessed their dedication to the martial arts, I can say with confidence that new students will have a positive experience from which to develop a solid base of knowledge, and returning students will be challenged to excel and refine their skills. We had a great experience with Taekwondo. It teaches discipline, concentration, it is challenging and yet rewarding, it strengthens both mind and body.The masters and teachers at the Academy set a high standards for themselves and for their students. They teach their art with great responsibility and pride.The numerous awards from local and provincial competitions are the reflection of the high achievement of the students in the Academy.If you would like to be a part of this exciting character building and gracious martial art, the Taekwond Academy is an excellent choice!

I have trained at Calgary Taekwondo Academy since 2002. I didn't know much about martial arts when I first enrolled, but as a parent I appreciated that the basic tenets of taekwondo reinforced the values and character traits I was working so hard to instill in my children. The fact that I could train at the same time as my boys was a big plus!I was pretty uncoordinated at first and had a lot of sore muscles for the first few weeks, but Master Lau and Master Kim provided patient, encouraging instruction and I stuck with it. All these years later, I appreciate the strong sense of community between members of the club as much as I do the quality instruction. For me, taekwondo provides a great mix of strength, cardio, balance and flexibility training plus the mental challenge that comes from always learning new things.

I went there starting from when i was six years old. Now im ten and a first degree black belt.

Returning to Calgary with a black belt in taekwondo, Calgary Taekwondo Academy was my first choice for continuing my training. However, an unrelated back injury put a stop to that. This is a great, family oriented, taekwondo studio. Our boys have participated in several Little Tiger's sessions and have thoroughly enjoyed their experience. The instructors are excellent and engage the children very well. In addition, class sizes are small, allowing for individual attention. In-class activities vary frequently which retains the focus of little ones and keeps them engaged. I would recommend Calgary Taekwondo Academy to any beginners to taekwondo or those more experienced, looking for a new location to train!

My wife and son have been taking lessons here since 2006; she's now a 1st degree black belt and our son is an apprentice black belt. I'd hate to be on the receiving end of the kicks and punches they've mastered. The training builds respect for self and others, courtesy, humility, integrity, and confidence. It's a great place to acquire not only martial arts skills, but also to form a more wholesome character.

A challenging yet enjoyable experience. The level of technical difficulty of the movements were appropriate. The teachers and the students were both very welcoming and friendly. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
