Peterborough Humane Society

We woke up this morning to a stray chicken in our backyard just wandering around… we weren’t sure where it came from or what to do with it. We called the Peterborough Humane Society looking for some guidance and they were so helpful. They came and collected our visitor - a young woman names Sam came. She was so dedicated to catching that chicken…she was crawling around in some pretty thick bushes trying to catch her …it certainly wasn’t easy. It travelled into four different yards before she finally got her.You could tell that she loved her job. Once she got her she was very gentle with her dispite getting pecked!I just wanted to say how good she was at what she was doing and how grateful we were for her help.

We adopted our dog Victor from these great people. They give the animals a great deal of their time and love, and it shows through in the animals in their care.

We took our cat Binx here to be neutered. They were so kind and very helpful with meds and instructions on how to care for him after his little surgery to remove the fuzzy pom pomsThank you so much!

A friend of mine got harassed by one of their employees on Facebook on a post about their lost cat. Very empathetic behaviour I hope I never have to pick up a lost pet from them, they'd probably put it down since apparently letting your cat outside is contributing to the deaths of songbirds"."

We found our forever feline Frannie here. She has been just the perfect fit for our family. The staff are absolutely wonderful providing caring service to new pet owners and our cat.

Gorgeous new shelter, great people working there too

The new facility is absolutely beautiful! It's bright and spacious, with all the facilities needed to provide safe, attentive, comfortable care. The meeting room will be a great space to offer education to the community, as well as an affordable space for community groups. Staff were wonderful!
