Always a delicious reason to make a trip to the pretty town of Guysborough. Try the pumpkin cream cheese muffins in the bakery - you will NOT be disappointed. The restaurant is great too as is the antique shop.

I know it is the end of the season, and a rather remote location but that is not an excuse for a lackluster performance. We were by today for lunch. I had seafood chowder and my wife had the corn chowder. The restaurant was clean and comfortable with no wait and adequate service. The seafood chowder was warm, not hot, watery and lacked the creamy(cream) body expected in this Maritime standard. It was okay but not memorable. It might have craved more seasoning and temperature. The corn chowder was much like a can of warmed, not heated, cream of corn. The creamy texture expected from the potato starch was lacking.By comparison we had lunch at the Dancing Goat in the Margaree Valley on Monday and their food was spectacular. Please do some research and strive for something special.Bread roll was tasty but dry. Crackers were not fresh.Tea was hot and tasty.

Can't go wrong here. Great food and fresh baked goods at reasonable prices. Very friendly and helpful staff. Plus the added benefit of some rare to find antiques.

Food was tasty but the basic breakfast didn't come with hashbrowns. The servers looked overwhelmed and it took a bit to get service. Maybe try going not during peak rush times. We also visited on our way back from Stan Fest so I'm sure it was busier than normal. Coffee was delish and I just loved the gift shop! set up like a house with all kinds of goodies including vintage Pyrex and other vintage dishes. Very charming and unique.

I visit Guysborough every fall so I am atrgular patron of Days Gone By (or The Bakery,as locals call it). In past years my rating would have been between a 4 and a 5. Unfortunately, the menu is now very limited and the hours, after Labor Day are extremely limited(they are only open from 9 AM to 3PM on most weekdays in let's September and October). Their best meal is their turkey dinner, which feels like Thanksgiving, but breakfasts add also good and the clu sandwich with is good too. The Bakery has gone from a 4.5 to a 3, and I'm hoping it makes a comeback and returns to it's previous strong reputation.

Basic breakfast was mediocre at best and way over priced. $10.95 for two eggs, bacon and toast. $2.50 for hash browns and $2.50 for coffee. 16$ for a basic breakfast and it wasn’t anything special. Bacon was over cooked.Aside from that, the baked goods looked fantastic and fair priced and service was friendly.

Simply put, Days Gone By is special. It feels less like a restaurant and more like you're having dinner at your grandmother's house. The food is as close to home-cooked" goodness as I've ever experienced. Guysborough may be slightly off the beaten path for most travellers

Had lunch here and it was delicious!! I had the lobster roll (which is a BLT with good amount of lobster on it) and it was awesome - a bun they bake themselves was the icing on the cake! Came with fries and great meal for great price. My wife had the club sandwich and had same thoughts on her meal! We then split a skor donut and man was it decadent!! We bought some more baked goods for later haha. Our server was super friendly too and offered to tell us all about the area - excellent customer service and we felt very welcomed :) Highly recommend stopping here - we plan to go back on this same trip to check out the gift shop too! Their current hours are Wed-Sun from 10am to 6pm and they are well set up for covid requirements too - very clean and tidy place!

Always enjoy taking a drive down here to eat at my favourite restaurant. I was looking forward to introduce my boyfriend to the place today however it was closed unfortunately. I love walking through all the rooms and especially checking out the Christmas room upstairs. I always love taking a few goodies from the bakery home after an extraordinary meal (the thunder crunch burger is my favourite) meal. The fries here are awesome!! The 2 hour drive for me was always worth it.

Friendly staff, cozy dining area. We had their oatmeal raisin cookies and a cup of coffee--both of which were excellent. I'm glad I used the bathroom. I would have never seen all the interesting items on the way to it. The bathroom itself is very unusual for a restaurant--and not in a bad way. I'll let you figure that out if you go.
